I need some help here.

I have one of these:
http://www.miraclebeam.com/item_display.asp?pid=2622&cid=3

Nice light for what I paid for it, $5 on clearance.

The die (emitter) in the star has a busted lens dome.

Would like to fix this thing, but I'm having trouble finding
a 1watt die (emitter) or star with led on it.

Star dia. is 20mm

I don't see any kind of controler chip anywhere, just a wire
from the center spring (+) arround to one of the + (pos) pads,
and a bare stiff wire from under the edge of the star bent over
making contact to the tube for the neg (-), then bends arround and is
soldered to a - (neg) pad on star.

2Xcr123 drives this.
I guess this is a direct drive running on 6v???
Nothing in tailcap but a 8.5ohm resistor.

The star has PROLIGHT in one edge on one point of the star.

looks like a standard 2 contact off-set leg die (emitter).

Any help would be appreciated.

20mm LED MCPCB is very common. Should have no problem finding one. The only issue would be mating the star to the optical lens.

What does the LED look like? Any of these?

That resistor drops the voltage from 6V to 3.6V.

EDIT
This is probably what you have. 1 watt Luxeons are rather old and dim by todays standards.

This is roughly 3X brighter.
This is roughly 2.5X brighter and less blue. Lets you see colours better especially plants outdoors.
This is roughly 2X brighter and warm like an incandescent bulb.

You can just buy the LED alone as well.

There are other LEDs but they are shaped differently and you will probably have trouble getting them to work with your optics/reflector (assuming you have a 1 watt Luxeon).

I have updated my last post. The last 3 links are of the P4. Newark is a US industrial supplier.
