I am a nurse and sometimes i use my small flashlight in hospital (i like it cause it is very light and small).
I am trying to mod my akoray k-103 (10440 size), with a xm-l for a flood beam, and much higher efficience.
I use it indoor so i don't need a narrow beam.
I am using it DIRECT-DRIVEN and my trustfire pull 600+ mA on it for around 15 min. (almost 300 lumen 😀)
No heat! 🙂 this led is extremely cold compared to xr-e Q and R series.
I want to improve this flashlight adding +1 mode (low).
I wish this mode will be like a 30mA mode to ensure around 10 hours runtime.

Usually, a driver efficiency is 80-90% 🙁 but i dont need a current regulation, i only need a LOW mode.
Is there something not lowering my Vf and Direct driving my led while on HIGH mode?
IT MUST BE MAX 14mm wide...
PS: i am planning to insert a resistor with a switch (100%efficiency on HIGH and not Voltage drop), if we don't find a different solution.
