Ok, just got a new position and need a digital watch I can sync up with my computer for time sensitive freight. I haven't worn a digital for a long time. I have had triple sensors and G-shocks, several in fact. What I am looking for is something less tactical and more office-like, but I can still take out in the woods. Maybe an analog/digital combo. Trying to stay under $250. Thoughts?

Not sure if this fits your bill or not, but...

OK, it's a cheap timex (give it a chance), but the coolness factor is there. Timex model 56371
I just bought one for only $50, not the MSRP of $80 (actually a Christmas present).

This isn't like any of the Timex watches you're used to seeing. This one is ALL stainless steel, and has some heft that most Timex watches lack. The coolest feature this watch has is the ability to turn off the digital screen. The watch then looks like a nice analog with a silver face.

The catch to this watch is that it is a "special" model, and you won't be able to find it in stores (trust me on this). You can only buy it through special timex dealers. I only found two online stores that sold it, and two other different places through e-bay. I got mine through one of the e-bay sellers (that was great to deal with, BTW), since he seemed to have the best c/s, and his price was the best (here's the auction) . Call him directly and avoid the e-bay headache, and to get the $50 price (not including $6.50 s/h).

To get an idea of the heft of this watch, go look at this digital compass watch at your local Wally world or Target. Hope you like it! Good value if nothing else...

It should be noted that the Timex data link watch is also one of those "special" ones that can't be bought anywhere but those "special" Timex dealers...

Timex Datalink USB- real cool watch.
About $65 (Walmart)

Not only Sync the time, but your schedule and contacts as well... multiple alarms, notes etc... all the fun of a PDA with none of the bulk. Syncs up with MS outlook 2000 for notes and schedules (if that is your thing). Had one myself for a while now- works great. Fast sync via USB.

OK, maybe the data link isn't one of those "special" ones (I thought I was told it was, maybe I'm thinking of the body link ones)... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Dare you to find the 56371 at a large store like that though! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif (you're doing a lot better than I did if you can)

Got mine at Wallyworld.... I did see it in Campmor (a little higher in price)

Body link.... never looked for one of those. The only shape us IT guys are generally in is "round"..... I'm sure there are exceptions... even in the over 40 crowd.

That Timex 56371 is just what I've been looking for (unsuccessfully for 3 years). I'd order one right now, but I have skinny wrists and I'm worried it will be too big of a watch for me. Any way to find these in stores?

And this one is cool too:

The YES watch. It has ONE hand that rotates in 24 hours. The black bars on the bottom indicate when the sun is down. Noon is up, midnight is down. One quick look and you know how many hours of dayllight are left. That accursed daylight which obscures our lights...

It also shows the moon phase. Nothing like a TigerLight at mignight on a moonless night.

They have different styles, but they are big. And count on spending $250-$300.

Did I mention that I like cool watches /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I bought the Timex 56371 via the ebay store and I love the watch. Not nearly as bulky as I had anticipated. What a great value.
