A search didn't bring up much so, can anyone recommend a decent quality light meter for flashlight measurments. I would like to have a fairly good quality one that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Where to purchase also.

Thank you

Bill

Thanks Tom,

Looks good to me and the price is right. That's the one I will get. Do you have a preferred vendor for something like this?

Thank you

Bill

Hello Bill,

I was trying to remember where I got it, but I think I just went to the Extech web site and checked their list of stocking distributors.

If you do get this one, let me know. There is an undocumented procedure for getting repeatable results using the peak function. They may have fixed it by now, but when I got mine I spent some time with customer support figuring it out.

A lot of us also got the Meterman LM 631 which I used to do the destructive bulb tests....and it works well for those purposes.

Hello Hitthespot.

Here is the Benchmark testings if you didn't noticed it.

I didn't, and let me thank you for pointing it out. I now realize there is more to taking readings than just grabbing a meter and turning on the flashlight.

I wonder if Tom could come to my house for a couple of days. My wife's a good cook. Now Tom, it might be easier than the couple of hundred questions you will receive if I do buy that light meter. lol :D
