Hi Guys,
Need a light recommendation here.

-Price? $25-$50
-Preferably 2 stages. Low stage low enough to where it wont ruin completely night adapted eyes, but also light enough to do some very closeup reading such as a chart or something. But also bright enough to light up a fuse panel or something in case the power goes out (on low mode). (also, the ability to put a red light lense on there to help preserve the night vision). Then on the high mode, high enough for medium range work. Throw wont be too much of an issue here. But a good mix of brightness/runtime is preferable.
-beam? preferably a good mix of spot and spill. That will it will be good for reading and checking things of close to medium range in the dark.
-batteries? this light isn't for me, but for somebody else. So preferably no lithium primary cells or anything like that.
-size? The person i'm recommending the light to currently uses a minimag. So preferably nothing too much larger than that.
- plastic/aluminum? I dont really think that's too big of an issue.I doubt the person cares which one it is. Perhaps a metal one will make it look more expensive.

I think i've mentioned everything.

Thanks you guys! The only light i can think of is the SF aviator and that's definitely out of the specified price range.

Streamlight twintask on AAs??

I think I'd get a LED setup for the minimag myself. With the smart tailcap it'd be hard to beat..

If you really don't want to blow your night vision--your light will need to be very very dim when set low--or use a deep red filter/LED.

Since you need to read colors accurately too, you will need a white light at levels high enough to wash out your night vision.

If working around electricity (and/or fuels)--a listed plastic flashlight would be a much better choice.

A UK 4AA eLED Zoom would giver you 5-10+ hours (two levels)--batteries would last 1/2 to full shift. Also a clip is available for hardhat attachment.

Frequently, one light may not meet all of the requirements. Two (or more) flashlights may be a better solution for a person who has serious amount of darkness and work to perform.

A headlamp for working hands free is something that people tend to forget about when looking for a work light.

Well I suggest you check out the Streamlight Twin-Task 2-L. I own one and think it is underrated/ignored by most on this site. Not sure why, as it is a great light. It has three green LEDs for low-light tasks (plenty bright to read with, walk with, will even do a ceiling-bounce bright enough to light up the bathroom completely). Then it has a Xenon bulb rated at 72 lumens which is plenty bright for most any close to medium range tasks. I use this light daily and it is awesome. I paid $39.99 with two CR123A batteries included. Then I bought a charger and four RCR123A rechageable batteries for a total of $30 shipped to my house.

When I click on the Jeatbeam link, it looks like ready to go with no mention of backorder (although $29). Does this mean they are ready to go and ship? Spec-wise, looks like a good light for the money.

Well, the new version Jetbeam CLE is supposed to go on sale for $25 shipped next week. It has a very nice low mode, and much better PWM freq than the ealier version: http://www.jetbeam.com.cn/en/cle.aspx

Here my review of the earlier model and its other 1AA competitors:Rexlight, DX X.1 & X.V, Jetbeam MkIIX & CLE, Fenix L1DCE review: RUNTIMES + BEAMSHOTS

They are currently selling it that price - but in the Dealer's forum Jetbeam announced it was going on sale next week (and confirmed it is v1.2).

Hi selfbuilt, anyway you can post a link to that discussion? I just looked in the Marketplace/dealers corner and cannot find it but maybe it's me.
