I'm going round in circles now !!!
For the last couple of years I've had a Fenix LOD in my pocket and a Lumapower Avenger for taking the dog for a walk at night.
Twice now the Fenix has let me down - just no light for a couple of months and then it magically reappears. In fact I think I remember asking about it on here about 18 months ago.
After the initial problems and new parts, the Avenger has behaved but the switch feels very iffy now.
So I need a couple of new ones that are built like tanks and will last a lifetime!!!
A new AAA for my pocket of about 50 lumens (I'd go for an Arc-AAA but I can't see that 5 lumens is much good for say, peering in a car engine during daylight hours) and I'm going to go for a 2AA model to give me 100 lumens plus for out at night.
I'd like them to be as simple as possible - less to go wrong. Been reading and following links on here for about 3 hours and I still don't know what to go for so any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks.
Alan.

For the AAA,the ITP A3 is very good and I love the sequence of med-low-high and apart from the normal ideas you will get, would give the Terralux a go or Cyba Lites,my Terralux came from a Welsh dealer.:D

And it just happens I'm in Wales :)

Me too , but I'm in the South.

I agree with mcnair , the A3 is a nice little torch ... I have a titanium and a stainless and they are great on key-rings ... The A2 is my favourite just to clip in the pocket for everyday ... So , I carry the two A3s plus an A2 stainless ... I've got an iTP A1 but it is a bit dumpy for my liking , but it is brighter than the A2 or A3.

For late night dog walking , I love the Solarforce L2 with the three mode dropin using a single 18650 battery ... If you are worried about the 18650s , the Solarforce L2i uses three AAAs ... I've got one but I use a single 18650 in it ... Wonderful torch particularly with the straight bezel fitted in place of the crenelated one.

Nos da.

My L0D gets build up on the positive terminal at a fairly quick rate, which results in flickering and it completely not working. Try cleaning the contact and see if that helps.

Not strong on maintenance - I always expect things to work forever!!! Is that clean with some sort of liquid or scraping with the end of a penknife?
