I use 300 lumen 2sx18650s cc current home made headlamps at work (color texture inspection and hunting 1 to 3 meter, painting ) that need to be minimum ly 4k candela (1000 lux at 2 meter 90 degree angke) for 10 hour minimum runtime, hot spot 12 degrees. . 15 is ideal to cover rods, however, pi r squared means 49pi v 36pi so not practical when xpl efficiency still struggling to meet spec at 12 degree in a wearable form factor proven to work (toolbelt light form factor proved to be not practical over long haul).

I keep trying to buy edc headlamps that will go 4 hours, be super small and lightweight, with no luck. . Too short run times:too dim! , Faux constant current, too heavy to seriously carry. . I got a lipo 1200 ma usb rechargeable that is shipping. . I suspect it won't hold a charge 1 or 2 week out, probably 2 hours and only 2k candela. Not cc, I bet. . I picked this one since I can't tolerate the weight or size of the single 18650s lights I have, but 1200 mah beats aaa 850mah. So far, with the single 18650s and the tir 3aaa, i can only read and do brief amounts of- not serious- color inspection with the 250 lumen energizer light or the hank/bang good 18650s.

Contemplating making my own single 18650, where I can control the current (would want 1 watt max, infinitely dimming cc) xpl hi, all plastic construction for weight, or aluminum can thin housing. . The driver is tripping me up. . These AMC 7135s hardly seem constant current, nor remotely efficient, compared with a buck controller (only useful on 2 cell lights). . Maybe a 2 cell lipo based on two small cell phone batteries is way to go. . Then the charging circuits would get complex, as you would need a switching system to cc/cv the cells individually. . Hmm, maybe incorporate the qualcomm 3.0 tech into a good light etc xpl hi headlamp! . Probably not possible without cpu. The rcr123 capacity is pretty lame. . Is there a true half size and capacity cell to the 3400mah 18650s?

what I can tell u is this.
u seem to know way too much about headlampt and flashlight than any of us know, basically what I would recommend personally is armytek wizard pro and any of the zebralight headlamp and possibly nitecore NC30. otherwise as u said make your own. at this point u just want something that fits ur need perfectly and we all know that market products won't cater for each and everyone needs personally. but if u don't want to make ur own go with zebralight or armytek. otherwise make ur own.
cheers.
brace.

Is zebra lighter weight than army tek? They also need infinitely dimming driver like the new energizer hd+ headlight. Though I don't feel the driver is true cc on the energizer, anymore than the intl outdoor or convoy AMC based drivers. Low too low, high too high on most these lights, and they dim far before their end time.
