I've got a mini-mag with a Royal Blue MadMax drop-in from Dat2zip. The optics he sent me are the NX-05, and I've got an NX-01 and have tried them both with the incredibly nice LS, but with both of the optics I can see the die VERY clearly projected onto just about any surface I point it at.

I'm not sure a reflector is the answer since the optics are important to magnify the LED, but maybe if there is a reflector that could work in conjuction with a different optic.......

Is there any sort of inexpensive alternative?

Try some type of diffusing film between the ball of the NX0- and the LED. Write right, scotch tape etc. I believe this will blend the die image out of the beam.

Will the heat generated from the LED affect it?

Is there anything that would be similar to a fresnel, sort of like the mini-dimples on a SureFire reflector?

Thanks!

BTW: Your friends at Berkeley Point hooked me up with a nice little discount on their mini-clips. Tell T.Jay I said thanks again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All of the Luxeons make a pattern simular to the letter "E" and the lens projects it out; A fresnel shouldn't make any improvements

On the White modules - the FL coating diffuses the light beam

I believe irregularities (sp?) in the surface will not only difuse the beam but absorb some electrons as well (no free ride). There shouldn't be enough heat at the LED lens to cause problems with any difussion material placed between it and the ball of the NX.

PS. I'll pass the message on to T.Jay /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can either get a McFlood reflector for it or use WriteRight...

I've always used WriteRight for eliminating those barbecue grills on the 5 Watters...
