Like the title says I need a charger for Eneloops. The best would be if I can get it on DealExtreme or KaiDomain.

Thank yous

Re: Nedd charger for Eneloops

I have this charger and am very pleased with it. There are two caveats that one should be aware of - it does NOT have UL listing (although they claim the European CE mark), and being from DX it ships from Hong Kong - but the price can't be beat at under $14 shipped.

Please check out this review/discussion -

Soshine SC-C3 Intelligent Rapid Charger

Beginner question here: what is the difference between various chargers? I bought 4 AA Eneloops with a charger for $16. Should I get a better charger, or will the stock one suffice? I believe I purchased something like this:

If it was the combo pack on closeout at WalMarts for $16 with 4x AA eneloops - it's actually quite a well regarded charger.

The charger in that pack was the MC-MQN05 with 4 independent charging channels -

The only thing is that it charges the batteries relatively slowly - and is not really in the optimum charging current range of 0.5-1C. That is the charge current for AA eneloops is 300mA - the optimal would be in the range of about 1-2A

But lots of people have used it fine.

The newer MQH03 - as reported in Sanyo Eneloop MQH03 Charger - Observed would probably be better.

But then so would the Soshine SC-C3 Intelligent Rapid Charger and possibly the Kodak 1 hour charger K6200 (linked to review at Amazon - sold for $19.06 shipped with 4x AA Kodak Pre-Charged at Shopdango.com)

If you can post the model number for the charger you have (look on the back), it will help to give more precise advice. But in general, any charger sold bundled with Eneloops will be fine to use. There is no need to spend more money on chargers unless or until you discover particular limitations with that one.

I don't know if the charger is different (it looks different) and I really hate promoting Wally*Mart .. but... this includes 4 LSD cells for $7 less. I picked it up for the same price at a local store just to try out the cells.

That Kodak value charger is an overnight timed charger. It would be good to use occasionally for "conditioning" cells, but it is not the best choice of charger for regular use.

Thank you for the clarification UnknownVT and Mr_Happy. Yes, it just so happened to be the bundle at Walmart since I couldn't locate a better price online.

Oh, and eng_driver, I abhor Walmart's business practices myself, but I couldn't resist getting Eneloops. Hopefully, that will be the last of my purchases there for some time.
