Which end is the long end? Positive or negative?

You could make it either way. It all depends on the application you're going to use it for. Most devices have the positive as the center, and the negative on the outside, but that's not always true. So, if your device, or whatever is positive center, then you would solder the positive to the contact that goes to the center, and the negative to the contact that goes to the outer part.

Thanks for the help!

I didn't know it was dependent on device. So I plugged it in and measured voltage with a voltmeter to get the positive and negative ends.
