This morning I tried to fire up my 2D ROP and got...nothing. I would like your assistance with troubleshooting. Here is what I have done so far:

1. Put the Eneloops on my ZTS tester. All six show an 80% charge. Doesn't seem to be a battery problem.

2. Removed the FiveMega 6AA->2D adapter and popped in 2 D cells. Got the bulb to glow dimly. Doesn't appear to be a switch or bulb problem.

3. Hit all the contacts on the FiveMega adapter with DeOxit, then a pencil eraser. Reloaded the Eneloops. Still nothing.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

If you have a Multimeter check the loaded battery adapter for voltage across. If you get nothing it could be the adapter. If you have no Multimeter you could use two wires and the pelican bulb and simply make a connection with the adapter.

Check if the little front spring in the switch end of battery compartment is still in place. You can see it if you look in to the battery compartment. Lacking that spring could make some contact issues if the + button of 6AA adapter is low.

Problem solved (or at least identified).

As I was playing with the adapter, I noticed that one row of batteries was a little loose. Some of my Eneloops have an indentation forming on the negative side, probably from being squeezed in this adapter for long periods of time. It looks like it's becoming a vicious circle, needing to ratchet down the adapter more as the indentation prevents contact, then creating a bigger dent.

I suppose that I could store the ROP empty and just put the batteries in when I want to use it to minimize the amount of time that the pressure is on, but I like the idea of having it ready to roll when necessary.
