alright i was told youall pretty much knew everything and could help me get a good deal. i work EMS and i need a flashlight thats durabal, very bright, not to expensive and not to large want to be able to carry in pocket and no bigger than 4in long i hate having to steal the cops lights on wreck sceens so if you could please help me out would appreciate it

What is 'to expensive' for you? $35? $50? $75? Are you interested in rechargeable or primary batteries? What about modes? Do you want a simple interface, or a selection of different levels to choose form?

To keep the light under 4in in length, you'll need to go single celled. To get maximum brightness, you'll probably want to go with CR123, rechargeable CR123 or rechargeable AA (14500). Those last two are both lithium ion cells, the former is a primary lithium battery, often known as a 'photo lithium'. Some good lights to look at would be some of the Fenix or Quark lights, also Jetbeam or Nitecore. Visit their websites and see if there is anything interesting to you, then maybe we can give additional advice.

What do You (or "the cops") use?
How long does it have to give light?

ANY of the better Led-lights will be - imho with 99% chance - way more bright, than whatever light You might be able to borrow in general.

usual advise:
Fist: You have a good charger and cells in size AA
--> Fenix LD20, 4sevens quark AA², or similar

Second: You do not have a good Ni-Mh charger --> go to Li-Ion!
--> Jetbeam Jet III Pro ST, or Pro Ultra, Shiningbeam L-mini II, Surefire 6P with Led insert, ...
at least something that runs with a protected 18650 cell.
Multi-outputlevels is good to have.

... all the lights in this class give about 2 hours of their max. output.

Good morning,
The Quark Mini 123 will serve you well. I'm not a big fan of rechargables, but you can get a good supply of cr123 at a resonable price from one of the advertisers on this site.
Good luck

thanks for all your help guys im thinking of going with the Quark 1232 tactical i like the modes and the tactical light. are there any cons to this light youall have found and can i get those batteries in rechargable
let me know thanks

If I were you, and liked the Quark, I'd get the 2xAA model and use standard NiMH rechargeables. There are rechargeable CR123's, but you'll add a bunch of cost and they require special handling, ESPECIALLY if used in pairs (I can't stress this enough)

Its a great light but the R5 model has lots of flood this could be a good thing or a bad thing at a accident. Their is lots of flood so you may make some co-workers or cops not so happy, it may be a good idea to go with the R2 model it offers more throw and a tighter beam without as much bright flood. This is just an idea maybe you would prefer more flood.
