After having spent too many hours running manual light output tests, recording the values every few minutes, I'm ready to bite the bullet and automate the process. So I'm looking for a light meter that I can connect the computer to and record the data automatically. It looks like a number of folks here have a system like that. What are you using?

One unit that keeps popping up on a web search is the Extech 401036. Any comments about that particular unit?

Sounds expensive. Isn't there some cheap PC program you can use like those free Oscope programs and a light sensor ?

I used a nice chart recorder for thermocouples way back when, and data logging beats the heck out of pencil and paper. You should look into a thermometer/thermocouple too to get those cool temperature rise over runtime graphs. Omega has all kinds of temperature products and info. http://www.omega.com/
