Well looks like I'm in the market for some new lights. My LD20, LD10 and TK40 were all stolen from my car on Sunday night when I stayed the night at my cousins house in a questionable neighbor hood:mecry:. At least the didn't do any major damage to the car only took the lights and the coins in the ashtray.

So looks like I need to get some more lights what are some new lights. What would you people recommend I like the normal batteries AA, AAA but am willing to invest in some li-ion stuff.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I can't stand a theif. While we're working, they're out looking for something to steal from us:thumbsdow Have you looked at the Quark lights?

That sucks!

Check put the ITP EOS3 and Maratac for AAA lights. The Jetbeam RRT-0 is a great light. It is a 1X cr123 light and has an available extender which allows it to use AA's as well.

My condolences on the loss of your lights, especially the TK40. That's gotta hurt. Although it does give you an excuse to go flashlight shopping! :)

I would recommend you consider:
ITP Eos A3 3-mode for EDC.
Quark AA for a utility light -- you can run it on 14500 to get 200+ lumens on Turbo.
And, sigh, another TK40 for your light canon.

Good hunting!

I like the Maratac AAA suggestion , but for a really fun light try the LiteFlux LF2XT. If maximum brightness is not as important as total programmability give it a try.

Recently bought 4 EDC lights, shown in the pic below. The AA*2 EagleTac P20A2 (far left) is a great light.

Another light I am considering is the Quark Tactical AA*2 XP-G R5.

A new dereelight C2H which can use either 123 or AA with the extension. TK 45 hopefuly it will come out this month. And eagletac P20A2 MKII series.

how about a car alarm?

on more serious note:

AAA: preon1 or 2. liteflux 2, or for cheaper option itp A3.

AA: quark mini if you dont buy AAA light, zebralight sc50 and h501. quark AA (i like tactical better)

nothing wrong in buying the same lights you already had before.. they are good quality and come with pocket clips these days (ld10 and ld20+)

jetbeam rrt0.. i would like to have one but i just cant spend that much on single small light. not when i already have plenty of others in same size format.

Sorry to hear about your big loss. There may be a silver lining to the story. If your lights were stolen on your friend's property, his homeowners' insurance will definitely cover the loss. You just need to find out what his theft deductible is, and whether it's worth it to file a claim. You'll need a police report for that, too.

As for suggestions, I think you should get a JHanko D10 with 27 trits in the head and body. Then get a second for a backup:popcorn:
With 2 lights worth about $600 each, I bet you won't leave them in the car:nana:. Now they'll have to pry them from your dead cold fingers if they want to take them!

That sucks I know how you feel recently someone also stole my Eagletac P20C2 MKII and a $250 Braun shaver from my vehicle. I liked the P20 so much I have since bought two more and that is a light I would suggest to you.

Other lights I have if was stolen and I had to start over I would buy again right away include.

Zebralight SC50
Jetbeam RRT0
Surefire E2DL
Surefire E1B
Quark 2x123 R2 tactical
Eagletac P/T20C2 MKII

What about a Fenix L1T? It's cheap and uses a simple forward clicky. No stupid quatrilion modes, just two modes with head turning and a switch that allows you to use morse code. (Yes, actually learning that.)

I got the car assessed today and the lights are covered under the cars insurance but need to prove the cost of them. It gonna be hard convincing the assessor 3 lights could add up to almost $300.
Is the TK45 actually coming out? That LiteFlux LF2XT looks mad.

/QUOTE]

Not my fault a "07" made car doesn't have a alarm (MY07 subaru legacy) and I cant be bothered to get a alarm installed until I get my sound system put in.

those LD20s...probably the only XR-E based light i have that i would replace w/ the exact same thing. Quark Turbos are awesome. i have the 123^2 and its definitely the smallest dual-cell light i have and the 2nd brightest falling just short of the LX2...but not by much.

whatever you get i think it might be good to test it by conducting a stakeout. park your car right where it was, find a good observation point and wait for the first asshole that walks up to your car and starts shining inside of it w/ a bright, tiny light they have no business owning.

Ouch! Fellow Legacy owner here (05 Legacy GT Ltd wagon)! :)

The lights are covered under car insurance? Is that a new thing or a regional thing? When my previous car got broken into 7 years ago, MetLife said if it's not attached to the car, it's covered under home owners/renters insurance. The $350 worth of stuff ($200 of which were my sunglasses) wasn't worth making a claim and raising my premuims.

Have fun light shopping!

[Edit: Never mind...just saw you're in Australia. Oops!]

Is the TK45 actually coming out?

The only ones that definitely know the answer to that question are the people at Fenix. The last time they talked about the TK45 officially that I heard was at the 2010 SHOT Show and they boldly stated a March release date. That was a while back now.

Who knows really. The wait is frustrating though. :p

For AAA my favorites would be the Liteflux LF2XT for a programmable does-it-all light, or an iTP/Maratac for simple 3 level, very affordable light.

For AA I carry an EZAAw, since I use it as an adjunct to my Draco and LF2XT, but if you were to have only one small AA light, my choice would be the Quark MiNi AA, due to it's decently wide range of output, simple UI and perfection of hotspot/flood beam pattern.

those scumbags

sorry to hear about your loss, my ld20's are my best lights, the runtime on the r4 version is even better than the q5
