I know the LED technology is changing all the time, so I would love some help with my next pick. I am looking for something for my car. It will go into the door holder slot. Prefer if its hefty enough to use for protection in an emergency (not pocket size). High intensity/bright would be one of the more important factors. $100 or less would be great unless its worth going over that.

Thanks

What size are you looking for? What types of batteries do you want to use?

The Fenix T1, TK10, and TK11 are good flashlights that can run on CR123a batteries. CR123a batteries are good for leaving in the car during hot and cold weather.

Some folks recommend the Mag 4 C for its baton-like feel.

Best bet I think is a maglight host (4c/3d sized) with one of the current gen LED dropins. If it's just for automotive/repair light then even a magled module will work great, for more light (and still hours and hours of runtime) you can get one of the better drop-ins from malkoff and other builders.

If you want to put it in your car door, but still want a light with some substance, I'd recommend the Wolf-Eyes M90 Rattlesnake with a Cree Q5 LED. It's a bit narrower and brighter than a Mag LED, and it's nice and sturdy.

If you plan to use it a lot, I'd recommend spending the extra on the rechargeable kit.

Get a hold of Mike at PTS for a nice discount. The instructions are on his member page.

4D maglite with a malkoff single emmiter drop-in with prove a very nice beam with a large enough light to do quite a bit of damage to some one. you could crack someones skull i am sure. :candle: it would make one mean light
