In the beginning of the year an AA battery leak destroyed one of my 3AA MagLEDs by fusing the tailcap to the body, in an attempt to perform diagnostics on the failure I sawed the light in half...two battery leaks on one light, I couldn't believe it. the only cell that wasn't "welded" in place was the battery closest to the LED...:ohgeez:

I managed to remove the LED and driver and have it stored in a film can. While sorting paper in my room I recovered it from its hiding place but now I dunno what I could do with it, I don't have any driver data on the little driver. you think it'll run a cree without blowing it on 1x14500?

relative dimensions are
Length: 1.5cm from pin to pin
Width: 1cm max
Height 0.6cm from PCB to inductor cap

When the light was still working, current consumption is about ~150ma

any suggestions would be helpful:thumbsup:

Re: what can I do with a 3AA MagLED driver?

Hook it up to a 3d battery holder and make youself a looooooooong runtime light.

as stupid as I may sound but I've never given thought to that before:shakehead

I have a 3D module currently serving that purpose but I wasn't thinking when it came to 3AA, my god I'm always making useless thread, I'm lucky if I don't get banned for making such mistakes over and over

works well...obviously

Too bad that wasn't a 2AA MagLED module or I'd have bought it from ya.

Mine died a horrible death in a soldering accident :ohgeez:and I haven't found a module that will fit in that really tiny pill.
