Re: NEW 3-LED Torch - \"V2 Tri-plex Photon Pump\"
Uhhh, sorry... the "sauce light wand" thread is down the hall, exit to your left please.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

OK.. back to the topic at hand - The "Photon Pump" vs. "PT Attitude" !
Using fresh batteries measuring lux at one meter:
Photon Pump - 81 lux
Attitude - 79 lux
Conclusion:
* Attitude should have superior run time using 4AAA batteries vs. the Photon Pump's 3 "N" cells.
* Attitude costs $20 vs. Photon Pump $30.
* Attitude weights MUCH less.
* Photon Pump has barrel mounted switch.
* Photon Pump is visually MUCH brighter across the entire beam.
The Photon Pump is quite heavy and is advertised to have a STEEL body - and the battery tube on mine does stick to a magnet but appears to be an alloy. The Photon Pump (PP) seems to be very well made and is individually serial numbered. The PP's body is smooth and could be slippery under wet conditions.
The truth is the LUX meter doesn't begin to tell the whole story. The beam from the PP is FAR superior to the Attitude in side by side comparison. Testing the PP's beam against an (old style) INOVA X5 is much more fair. The X5 BARELY edges the PP but the PP's beam appears to be a bit more "distinct". The PP is actually a bit "crisper" than the X5
While the PT Attitude is probably just a slightly better value for the $, and I certainly have no regrets in buying this light what so ever. The overall LUX is fairly close on both of these lights, but the PP's beam easily out-powers the Attitude. For people who like METAL solid-feeling flashlights, this will make a very nice addition to their collection.
Overall, This is a very nice light and I really like it. My only gripe is that it's a bit heavy for loose pocket carry. Check it out! <img border="0" alt="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" title="" src="graemlins/icon14.gif" />
