New 4Sevens Quark 123 Mini

Interesting...so far.

But without a warm or neutral emitter, I ain't gonna do it.

The lights that have seen the most, if not all, of my use of late are my Quark 123 warm, my EZ CR2 warm, and my Surefire E1e and E2e.

Well except for that Olight T20 T I picked up....

With that exception, I can't see myself splurging on a new light unless it has a warm or neutral tint emitter.

Just my $.02.

You need to jump on this wagon then.

The only one thing which is common to both the series of the lights that neither has provided beam pattern and of course none of them have been seen by mere mortals 🙂

Head to head spec comparison is fun but it can not be definative.

Just broke down and ordered the 123 version! :paypal:

Let's see if it can dethrone my aeon for edc purposes. Yes, I'm excited. lovecpf

Is there any confirmation that the AA can run on 14500's? I would love to get 189 lumens out of the AA form factor.

Yes there is; and YES this is possible 🙂 David has a few comments on using 14500's on page 8 of the CPFMP thread. Or read his messages here and here.

Crap! I tried to hold out but could only manage a few days.

I'm in for a 123 mini, my first CR123 light. I do have an Aeon which I like but with an RCR123 this should be absolutely mind-bogglingly bright and potent...

HKJ! I am overwhelmed however, and I (WE) are going to need some serious perspective on these little buggers. I feel like this is more than a game-change: the world is turning upside down!

My reining champ of AA has been the NiteCore D10, but I don't EDC it because it is just a bit too big for me. I liked the Aeon but it somehow never totally floated my boat...

This could be it...

I'm drowning with 2 little kids right now, but if anyone has time, it'd be so cool to update this little chart:

I made that a few months back here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=229843

IMO if someone could figure out how to install a clicky in a falshlight and keep it this small it would be a bigger step forward in flashlight tech than Cree has ever done. I love pocket rockets but not crazy about twisty UI's

You want a tiny AA clicky? ZebraLight HS50 (I believe) is your answer.

I have placed my order for a MiNi AA. I wonder if they'll make a 2AA version or make a 2AA body available? It occurred to me that this light in a 2AA version would make a fantastic helmet-mounted light for when I'm riding my bike in the dark. Yes, a clicky would make it easier to turn on/off but since I will only be turning it on once at the beginning of the ride and once at the end of the ride it isn't such a bad thing.

Thanks but I prefer CR123. I find the AA versions of the same lights have less output and are longer and not much narrower than the CR123 versions. I don't think anybody makes a clicky CR123 that is as small as the Quark Mini. I think it would require a clicky technology that doesn't exist yet.

I am going to take at look at these lights, together with many other lights and they will show up in a (Danish) review and my beamshots in the next few months.
In fact I have newer had so many lights on order before, from AAA, to a HID and a lot in between.

Thanks so much HKJ!

Too bad these don't come like the Preons. That would be something very special.

I'm having a hard time choosing too.

AA:
Quark takes 14500; iTP doesn't --> Quark
Quark tailstands; iTP doesn't --> Quark
I prefer the Quark's knurling --> Quark
Quark = XPG; iTP = XPE --> depends
Quark can be brighter and floodier; iTP will be more focused --> depends
Quark = US$ 39 shipped; iTP = US$ 27 shipped --> iTP
Quark has hidden disco modes.
Levels are a tie (with NiMH). Size is a tie.

There's also more 😀:
-Quark Minis (supposedly) have PWM>2000Hz, iTP AAA is =<200Hz PWMed (on Mid and low). For some people (like me), <300Hz PWM = :green::green::green:
-4sevens often use conservative numbers, iTP (AAA) used best-case scenario numbers <- could result huge differences in runtime

These look really nice, but I don't want another light without a pocket clip option (preferably deep carry, bezel down!).

The sturdy pocket clip is actually my favorite thing about my Quark AA, and the reason I EDC it over other lights, because it actually stays put. Too bad it's not deeper though.
