New battery technology from Eamex

No doubt many new enhancements of Lithium batteries are coming, but as you know a research theory from a 9 year old Japanese company is far from certain.

I think the bigger issue given the push towards electric cars is that 50% of the world's Lithium reserves lies in a non-cooperative Bolivia, 27% in somewhat cooperative Chile, and 10% in China. So we switch our dependency from foreign oil to foreign lithium.

I would rather see development of hydrogen fuel cells and other alternatives of stored energy.

I think lithium batteries of all sorts are just a halfway house until supercaps reach and exceed the energy density of chemical cells ( I think this will happen within the decade ). Lithium is a nasty metal to mine and deal with. In the long term for a bunch of reasons it's a good idea to make energy storage devices which don't use lithium. Still, interesting technology.

Batteryware is a special form of Vaporware. 10X capacities are always just around the corner. But it sure would be great.

Remember in the 90's when there was a new cop-killer bullet in the news? Everyone was horrified and there was a lot of talk about banning the bullet.

Turned out to be a gov contractor who's business was slow and was trying to innovate things. They had a stealth material that the US didn't want but they weren't allowed to sell it outside the US either. They were trying many other things including the bullet.

They didn't understand ballistics very well so had extrapolated performance that just wasn't close to realistic. I would guess this is along those same lines of limited experience and eagerness to innovate.
