I have measured approximately 10% more lumens from the new Cree-XM-L when installed in the mag Drop-In. I measure 880 Out the Front lumens in my own home made Sphere.

Mac, what is stock currently like and what do you recommend, the 4500 or the 6500 temp? This is my first Mag Mod, I have a 3 "D" cell incandescent I want to upgrade.
Thanks
Bill

XM-L's currently are only available in cool tint.

Mac, does the color difference from the SST-50 4500K?

Is there a waiting list on this item?

Thanks!

The color for the XM-L drop-in is around 6000k so it is cooler than the SST-4500k. There is currently no waiting list on drop-ins.

Thanks Mac

Got mine today but no pins to install. No need for them. 😛
This thing is bright, love the tint, the only question I have is there a trick to mode changing consistently?
I seem to get, med-high-med-high-med-low.

No pins, no paper just a tin foil hat .😛

I apologize for not including the paper and pins. I must of missed them 🙁

If you need them shoot me a pm and I'll get them out to you tomorrow.

Sounds like you have a dirty switch Is it in an older mag?

Brand new but now that you mention it the switch sounds gritty.
Also after leaving it on high and turning it off for a few minutes it reverts back to low when switched back on.
Wonder if the switch is wonky?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you have a picture of the light comparison between SST-4500K and XM-L drop-in?

I have a hard time to see the difference between this two.

BTW, do you offer BoroFlot Lens or any other accessories for the drop in?

Thanks!

While waiting for my Tenergy D cells to fully charge I played with the gritty new switch.
All is great now, this thing is crazy bright. The build quality is top notch.
It can nearly throw as far as my M40A ( the brightest LED light I had until this guy) and the drop-in puts out 50% more light in a ceiling bounce test, amazing when you consider the smaller reflector.
Oh and IMHO the pins really are not needed, one can use chopsticks, metal tipped pens, finish nails just about anything small enough to fit in one hole, I used a Ti spike. 😛
I may have to order another.

Yes there is a boro lens option on the Drop-In Purchase page. Sorry I do not have a comparison shot between the SST-50 4500k and XM-L.

I'm glad you got the issue with the switch worked out and your happy 🙂

Mac

Mine is doing the same thing, bouncing to different light levels in no particular order.
Did you do anything in particular to the switch or just clean the contacts?
