I wanted to start a new thread on the new Eagletac P200LC2 that I got today, I figured I would get a pretty good light but now I'm thinking the P200LC2 is better than just good. Besides the max and low mode I did not really research the specs before I bought the P200LC2 so I really did not know what to expect with the beam profile but being in the family of the P100 and P20C2 I should have known there would be some throw. I don't have any devices to measure lux but comparing it to my D25LC2 the hot spot is tighter and more intense. I guess it is easy to compare the P200LC2 to the D25LC2 when you consider size, appearance and battery type and I'm pretty sure comparing it to the D25LC2 is one of the first thing Eagletac fan/owners will do.

There is really three big difference between the two lights first the P200 has a forward clicky, second the P200 only has three output modes 920/255/28 compared to the D25 but the big difference has to be the large reflector and head on the P200LC2. I almost think of it as mini Turbo version of the D25 like in the past and I guess you still can buy certain lights that have to different heads you can put on it, one for flood and one sometimes called the "Turbo" head for throw this is what the P200LC2 reminds me of that Turbo headed version.

I think its a great light and even with its slightly bigger head it is very easy to carry only being a fraction of an inch longer than the D25LC2, the bodies are identical including clip, knurling and lanyard attachment. As I mentioned earlier the P200LC2 only has three output modes with a true low-low missing but for me that is not a deal breaker especially on a EDC light I mostly use outside.

What is great is Eagletac's tints at least for me anyways you may feel differently but my favorite tint has always been a pure white tint no green, brown, blue or yellow just plain white maybe a little cool. Besides the functionality of Eagletac lights their tint has always pulled me right in and here it is no different the XM-L2 in the P200 matches the tint from my D25LC2 which is of course white . 🙂

Great light!

How are you liking the UI?

This might be my first Eagletac light ... I've admired their lights but found myself not enamored of the UIs. This one seems like it would be easy ... my main requirements are forward clicky (with momentary), I can click the light on or off as much as I want without having the light progress to the next mode, and I can set what mode the light comes on at. I don't care if I need two hands to change modes. Seems like this light hits all of those, amIright?

The S200C2 might become my second light , looks like it has some killer throw for the size .

Nice write up! I am patiently waiting for my P200lc2. Should be here on the 7th. My story: I've had my share of lights over the years. Not nearly as much as many people here. I started with the mini mags(ah, didn't all of the old guys like me start with them?), then picked up a Nova Inforce. It was my first taste of what "bright" EDC lights were about. I carried it for a couple years, and upgraded to a Surefire L4. Also played around with a few budget lights.....everyone knows, the eBay specials! Then a little more than three years ago I came across Eagletac online. I spent about 2 hours going through their entire lineup and decided the D25lc2 would fit the bill. I was right, and instantly fell in love with it. It has served me to the point that I have felt no reason to upgrade to one of the few +/- 1000 lumen EDC lights since. Until I came across this new Eagletac gem! I can't wait. Eagletac has really made some very nice products. The quality, the looks and the output, really make them stand out to me. And now my son gets the D25lc2, and my daughter gets the Inforce.

I really like the UI and I think based on your requirements you will to, it is nice for a change to use a forward clicky instead of the reverse clicky that the D25LC2 has. For the past year or so I have exclusively been carrying the D25 which is a awesome light but again its nice to just pull the light out and quickly use that forward click. Also another thing I really like about the P200 is that the head is not sensitive to accidentally changing outputs by bumping the head like so many other lights are.

I could not agree more ET is really doing it right and has been the past couple years at the very least. You mention Inova as the light that go you hooked well for me it was also a Inova but for me it was the Inova X5 which at the time was somewhere around 20 lumens max but I thought it was really bright and I guess for the time it was pretty bright.

The head changing positions when I didn't want it to, was really my one big concern. Thanks! How's the button feel when activating momentary?

Whoops! Thanks jhc. I didn't notice my error. Guess the spell check got me. I didn't mean "Inove". I meant "An Inforce". Had the Inforce 6vx. Think it was 90 lumen at the time. My daughter has it now. Still works great! Auto spell check! Man the new technology....with the inter web, and the face page!

Anyway, I have never had a problem with my D25lc2 turning on/off, due to the twisty head. I don't expect the P200lc2 will any problem either. Like I said....Eagletac really has their ish together.

The button feels great nice and solid also their is no delay between pushing the button and the light actually coming on.

No worries about the spelling we know what you meant, we all know how some forums can be with the spelling monitors but thankfully the people here are pretty good. There is just to many manufactures, dealers, and technical jargon to be nit picking members about a misplaced quotation or spelling error.

btw Daveh1 :welcome:

Thanks buddy! I've been around for awhile now. Tell you the truth, this thread, your thread is why I finally joined. 2 more days and my P200lc2 will be in my hands. Gave my older Eagletac D25lc2 to my son yesterday. It hasn't left his pocket since! And it would still be in my pocket if it were not for the new P200lc2. Keep up the good work Eagletac!

I wanted to add a couple things I failed to mention in my first observation, first I said the body of the P200LC2 and D25LC2 are identical and for the most part they are but the D25 has flat surfaces on both sides of the tubular body where on one side it is labeled D25LC2 and the other side EAGTAC. With the P200LC2 only one side has the flat surface and is labeled EAGTAC and P200LC2 below that. While this is not a huge deal I do wish the P200LC2 had the flat surface on both sides because I like to wrap my fingers around the flat surfaces with a cigar grip and it is more comfortable with flat surfaces on both sides of the light, a small nit pick but worth mentioning I think.

The Second thing is while the hotspot and spill are to me a near perfect tint with little to no artifacts there is a blue line of light beyond the spill, you have probably seen this before and know what I'm talking about it is due to a combination of the AR coating and the smooth reflector. Because the blue circle of light is not near the useful part of the beam this does not bother me, it is not near the hotspot or spill but rather a couple feet out from both if you point the light say 10 feet away for example. Like I said it does not bother me but I felt it worth mentioning to you because who am I to say what may or may not bother another, that is certainly one thing I have learned on CPF over the years.

Thank you jhc37013. Was really eyeing this light upon its announcement and availability on ET website. I really like the built quality and UI of ET and this will definitely be in my list this 2015. Thanks once again!

Got my P200lc2 today. I love when things come early. Haven't put it through the paces yet(it's bright sunshine outside right now, and I don't have any dark rooms). I did just check it out good, and checked the momentary(which is new to me.) I was excited about. So I just pressed momentary shined at my hand, and the reflection off the palm of my hand was way too bright to look at! The size is perfect. I was really torn between this and the Nitecore P12. I chose the p200lc2 because of my experience with the quality, brightness and looks of Eagletac. And I'm glad I went with my gut on this. If I were to design my perfect EDC light, THIS would be it. I can't think of anything more I would want. Like I said, I have carried the twisty D25lc2, without fail, for over 3 years. It took seeing the nitecore, and this new eagletac for me to switch up. I'm glad I chose the eagletac. I'll try getting some pics up at dark.

Sorry. Couldn't do any pics. Anyway. Little extra on it. Incase anyone else doesn't know(because I didn't). The L200lc2 doesn't have any extra modes. No strobe, no SOS, etc. Just 3 simple settings. It has 3%, 28% and 100%. Forward click on/off. Have the head full tight, 100%. Turn the head about 1/4 loose 28%. Another 1/4 turn loose 3%. Maybe not for some, but awesome for me. To be honest, I hate all those modes on the D25lc2. Low, medium and high. Perfect!

I'm glad you like it Dave and yeh I forgot to mention it has no blinky modes which is fine by me, the only blinky mode I have ever used in real life is beacon mode and it can be handy.

Sounds like the 47s Maelstrom interface. Since that model was dropped by 47s may Eagletac will be using it.

I pulled the trigger on one, waiting for it to arrive (impatiently). Love the UI, love the performance (at least based on the specs), love the size.

Let us know how long you can run full power before it becomes too hot to handle.
I am thinking by ten minutes.

Well, I saw your post and let it sit on turbo, while i was reading other threads. That was over 10 minutes ago and it is not at all to hot to handle. Should I keep going and report back? Having my D25lc2 for the last 3 years, I have known that Eagletac does an amazing job dealing with excess heat. It's been about 12 minutes now, and it's pretty hot now. But I was still able I pick it up to turn it off. How long do you need high for? I keep mine on low, and that is plenty for most things.

Was that an 18650 or 2x cr123A? I would think it would be cooler with 18650, but only marginal so.
I remember testing a Fenix pd32ue on 18650s (after applying DC fix diffusion film) and by 15 minutes (4 resets) it was too hot. That Fenix is slightly heavier at 74 grams and looks to have slightly better heatsinking.
So I imagine in light of the 15% Eagletac step down after 200 seconds, and the higher efficiency of the xm-l2 it would probably get too hot by 15 minutes also.

I wonder if the Eagletac p200a2 will have a more practical high mode, say 1.5 amp drive instead of 3.0 (let the p200lc2 be the hot rod)

How easy is it to unscrew the head when it's already loosen up?

I have a D25LC2 as my EDC light. It uses to old UI, so I have the head loose so that it comes on on low. (just a small turn will do)
As I understand this new UI, you have to loosen the head almost half or a full turn to have it in low mode.

If someone has both the eagletac D25LC2 and this new P200LC2 can you try both out in the pocket of your pants to see if the difference in width and length is noticeable?
