NEW !! Green Laserdiode

I'll just add a more direct link: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

http://www.sp3plus.co.uk/green-diode-lasers.htm

I'm not too convinced...are they not diodes integrating the crystals into the one unit? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If they have finally been invented that means:

~no more stability problems.
~expensive at first but the cost will drop quickly.
~no more dangerous IR.
~much better battery life.
~no more effiency/conversion factors.
~no more delicate crystal sets.

We need clarification... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

Now , if they were direct injection green diodes, that would be something.I don't see anything to get excited about.

The link keeps defaulting to the main page...here's an extract from it...click 'Products' then 'Green Diode Lasers' I see no mention of DPSS or MCA sets.

"GDL 6000 & 7000 Series

The key benefit of GDL is the Mini-size with standard LD package. It is the smallest 532nm laser in the world with standard 9mm TO package. It could be easily installed within a system to replace a red laser diode. Another key benefit is its low-cost . The design makes it ideal for the replacement of traditional red laser diodes which have only 1/5 of the brightness compared of a green diode laser.

The Green Diode Laser can be used with an optical collimator and 3VDC. The laser should be mounted with a heat-sink - DO NOT OPERATE THE LASER WITHOUT A HEAT SINK MOUNT.

Applications Include Features Include
Laser Module Low cost
Laser Alignment & Pointing 532nm Output CW
Crystal Inspections TEMoo
Laser Scanning Easy Operation and Free Maintenance
Build - in Laser System It is the smallest 532nm laser in the world"

Seems someone here needs to buy one and play with it.

How much do they cost?

I have sent them yesterday a email and ask there for the price. they haven't send any answer until now.

I have received the prices.
Here are the Pricelist:
Green Diode Laser Price List
Description Quantity Unit price £ each
GDL-6001 1~9 £53.30
10~99 £47.00
GDL-7001 1~9 £59.70
10~99 £50.30
GDL-7020 1~9 £125.70
10~99 £94.30
GDL-7050 1~9 £187.00
10~99 £144.80

currency course:
1.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds = 1.88740 USD
United States Dollars
1 GBP = 1.88740 USD 1 USD = 0.529828 GBP
and in Euro: the 50mWatt diode costs about 271,- €

If this is truly an integrated DPSS unit, it's a novel idea.
However if you drop it and the crystals get out of alignment, you can't disassemble it to realign them.

Yeah and unlike the Leadlight assemblies these will be more stable and less complicated as the largest is designed for 50mw @ 750ma. The heat will be a problem though... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

unless somone makes a mini tec which fits in a laser pen and runs off 2xAAA batteries it will be no use at that power
although how much do you reckon you could get out of it strapped to a 120W tec with a big heatsink

From alt.lasers.
"Those are just 808nm laser diodes with a Casix DPM mounted in front.
Photop had them on display at Photonics West a few weeks ago and has a
bit more info on their web site" Which Marconi provided

Thanks Marconi, but with a Casix crystal set - thats gotta be good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
