New here planning on a SF M3 anything better?

One question what is a more powerfull beam. A LED 100 lummns such as the L2 or a 50 lumn beam incadecent from the avaiator? Please describe the throw and spill of these. I am assuming the throw is how far and tight the light is and the spill the amount of light to the perimiter? Like I said I am new at this.

Also would the L2 LED 100 lumns be comparable to the 120 Lumns of Incadesent from the M3? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Can't go wrong with a SF M3.

You have several lamp options as well a Turbo-Head option in the future.

Love mine!

L2: short-medium range throw (~30ft+?). 40/60 spot to spill ratio. Definitely more flood than throw. LED light tends to wash out (disappear) in urban settings (street lights) and fog or smoke.

M3: medium-long range throw (~60ft+?). 33/66 spot to spill ratio. Throws very well with a brighter center spot over distance and less spill versus the L2. Yellowish tint makes it easier to see contrast (movement, details, etc.).

Basically with an L2 on high (100 lumens), you can probably light up an entire 2-story house front from across the street in a nice uniform wall of light. The M3 can do the same, but probably light up a smaller portion (throw versus flood).

I have the L2 and it's perfect for flood work, but I have an M3 for more serious distance.

Don't forget the M3 Tip-off Beamshaper if the light will ever be used indoors or close-up.

My C3+m2bezel spends 90% of it's use with the beamshaper on. The spot is diffused into a circle 3 times the size, and the hotspot no longer blinds my eye to details in the corona.
