I came accross this new torch by treble-light yesterday and thought it could make a worthy host for an easy upgrade..

It comes in 2 options
One looks like a direct drive from 3 x AA batterys 270 lumens 140 euros, and the other is regulated and uses 8 x AA batterys still 270 lumens 200 euros.
Magnetic rotary switch on tailcap end
measuments:
• diameter 44 mm
• length 195 mm

Could i put an ostar in it and use a boost driver to get the required 14 - 16volts? input voltage from 8 x AA = 9.6volts
Maxflex??

Or i could put a P7 or MCE in it but how would i drop the voltage if i used the 8 cell version. Obviously the 3 cell version could be direct drive but that wouldnt ideal for burntime etc.

Any ideas?

Bit difficult to tell from the picture, but first of all what's the heat sinking like?

And since this inst a exactly a cheap light, why not buy a cheap one from DX then have a go at modifying that instead?

An ostar in a DX light, plus being waterproof..

umm i think not..

I agree with Gav. Why mod such an expensive light?

Go the mighty W200!:twothumbs
Its cheap waterproof and responds really well to mods.
I doubt the light you linked to would offer any advantages except the use of AA's ( if thats what you want).

W200 lacks room for voltage and capacity from multiple cells..

2 18650's at 3 ah gives you 22.2watt hours
8 AA rechargeable 2.7ah gives you 26watt hours.

Its not a huge difference.

Price wise its $280us vs $37us. Now that is a huge difference.

Just mod 2 W200s then you get longer run time and redundancy!
