Yes, definitely charge them.

Ideally you should also have a multimeter to check the voltage as well.

Double especially "yes," if they are going to be used in a multiple cell device.

Be sure they're rechargeable batteries.

Like Apollo said, it's especially important that you charge them if you plan on using them in a multi-cell device. You do not want cells with different voltages going into the same light.
