OK guys, don't get your knickers in a twist.

..I guess I'll have to hire a lawyer to draw up full disclosure contracts for everybody to sign.

My curiosity does not lie in who is or who is not a supporter of a particular light/brand, or with whom is the bigger fan. What I've been wondering about is whether there are any financial or personal ties to members that post here on a regular basis and do not disclose this information. I would hope that wouldn't be a problem but there's always a chance to exploit this opportunity. The simplest thing to do is ask and that's what I did. Despite all my merciless ribbing of the Clicky, I'll be picking up one of these lights because I really like to support people like Henry.
I'm with you Armed Forces. I've been wondering the same thing. I don't want to **** anybody off on cpf...... but was wondering if henry might have told cool beans about the 250 click thing just to get at novatac. It seems henry doesn't get along with them (novatac).

PM luxlover, he'll tell you why Henry doesn't get along with Novatac, and rightfully so.

Personally I've never sensed anything going on like paid promoters on here or anything even close to that. One of the biggest light manufacturers popular here has certainly been known to give away their lights at Shot show (Surefire) to CPF members and I'm sure that doesn't hurt their support here any but I really doubt there is much that could be gained by most light makers through any such dealings. One - not enough profit in it, two - if anyone caught on there name would be mud because this IS the Internet, three - just putting the info about your light up here and getting a review on them or people talking about them is some of the best advertising you can get.
I have no association in any way with Henry or Ra lights and today was the first time in all these years I actually talked to him on the phone. There .... knickers untwisted now.

LLCoolBeans,
Do you have any personal or professional relationship to Henry/HDS Systems or Ra Lights?

i have wondered the same thing. LL is at the very least a fan in the truest sense of the word. yet he is also the one who brought us the easter egg and inspired me to add the light that will remain nameless to my collection and i do look forward to comparing them side by side. i'll bet he alone drove up orders for the light that will must not be mentioned 10% in one month. no dought a sinister plot hatched by desperate men with flashlights.
LL needs to come clean about this and his involvement with the bay of pigs disaster and the failed trueman policy of containment. he no dought was single handedly responsible for the S&L crisis of the early 90's too. AND, he is the only guy i know that actually likes the clicky clip. very strange indeed! coincedence? i think not....

Ok, got a question.... I was just reading the PDF for these lights, the $99 one, and it states that the high mode only comes on for 10 seconds and then goes back down and you have to hit the button again to bring it back up. Is there a way in the customizing that I could disable that and make the high stay on? Maybe in the easter egg thread?

That's precisely what shot my BS meter off the scale.

Anyone that wasn't fazed in the slightest by that ghastly clip has to be suspect! ..and just happening to stumble upon that "easter egg"? ..lives in the same town? 😗 HELLO

...I just couldn't take it anymore. Sorry guys.

Simple as they might be to some, I am a tad confused by all the new models. The only difference between the tactical versions and non-tactical is the strobe and tighter beam, right?

OK, so does anyone know of any beamshots that directly compare a tactical and non-tactical beam outdoors, for example? (Sadly the search function on this site does not recognize "Ra" as a word, so it just searches for "clicky", which is obviously useless)

I'm also puzzled by the burst thing... that means a 140lm Ra clicky on high starts at 140lm then after 10 seconds drops to what? 100lm? Or does the 140lm light burst forth at 170lm and then drop to 120lm? The chart in Henry's PDF makes absolutely no sense to me

Ok, this is all off topic, but just to stop any rumors here...

It's an interesting story, the Easter egg thread is actually how I met Henry. About 5 minutes after I made that post, the phone rang. It was Henry calling to congratulate me. So, no he didn't tell me to get back at NT, but he wasn't exactly disappointed. :nana:

This was before the prototypes shipped. When he saw the post, he recognized my screen name, put 2 and 2 together and realized he had my contact info from the order.

Another interesting fact is that Henry didn't know if NT had removed that code or not. He wasn't about to go out and buy one, just to find out.

As far as the clip is concerned, I really do like it. Henry is not sliding me flashlights on the side in exchange for spreading clip propaganda, if that is what you are suggesting.

Yes, burst mode stays at an inefficient maximum brightness for 10 seconds then drops into a MUCH more efficient mode.

170 drops to 120
140 drops to 100
120 drops to 85

Reasons why this is not a bad thing...
1. As you noticed it can be re-engaged over and over.
2. 10 seconds sounds like a short amount of time, but in practice you'll find it's plenty long enough.
3. Protects you from yourself and stops you from wasting batteries needlessly.
4. There is little visual difference between maximum brightness and the brightness it steps down to. You almost have to be looking for it, to notice it.

Burst mode sounded absurd to me too, when I first read about it, but in practice it's actually pretty handy. I think most of you guys who have Clickys would agree. Am I right guys?

Page 3 of the flowchart has details on burst mode operation.

Check Enzo's info repository thread for all sorts of stuff including beamshots.

All models have 3 strobe functions. Tactical, Emergency, and SOS
EDIT: I take that back all Clicky models have three strobe functions.

ok... but you still have to answer for the bay of pigs AND the S&L fiasco...

There is no way to maintain the burst mode in any of the four new lights for longer than ten seconds, without repeatedly initiating it via the button. If you want a sustained output without having to press the button, then configure your high preset for level 22. For the Clicky models that would be 100lm, and for the EDC models that would be 85lm.

I'm also puzzled by the burst thing... that means a 140lm Ra Clicky on high starts at 140lm then after 10 seconds drops to what? 100lm?
This is correct. For the EDC models that would be 120lm to 85lm.

He was saying LL, as in LLCoolBeans, (also spelled El El) where you at? He found Mr. Cool, as you can see!

You are as right as two wabbits, Mr. Cool! :twothumbs

My god! We do get carried away here sometimes don't we?
Yes, we do, and how about showing your face once in a while and getting carried away with us, my fellow New Yawkan? Don't be a stranger!

Jeff
