just a 5mm white led. current with new alkaline aaa's is 37 mA. comes with a clipper. seems slightly similiar to the 1LED clipper light. oh, i put 2 baterias in the battery case (3 volts) and used a dummy aaa , alumium foil. it still lights up a little bright, bright enough that i can see around my room when i shine it at the ceiling........i wonder if there's any electronics in here. not a bad buy for just $9.97

I picked one up at wal-mart a couple weeks ago and i like it a lot. nice handy size, seems well made, throws pretty far and has a lot of side spill also. passed on the headlamp though due to the red leds, i like white. keep those led lights coming!

I like this little light too. It's as cute as can be. But, I can't help but wonder how the took an LED that probably has a pretty good beam by itself, add a reflector and lens, and turn the beam into rings and dark spots.

Rayovac does have very poor light quality it seems, check out these pics I took from a new rayovac light i reviewed.....just rings and black spots

I bought one of the RayOVac 3AAA LED lights and was somewhat disappointed with it. When I shine it at a blank, white wall, the "hot spot" in the center of the beam is 2 different colors. The right side is the typical bluish white of most white LED's, but the left side is sort of a brownish-white, noticeable at any distance. Maybe a just got a bad LED in mine, but the color really bugs me

...there is nothing in the world more frustrating than a lousy beam...
