Hey guys,

What are your thoughts on this light?

4,400 lumens , 350k candela

A whopping $1,600!

Off the bat, that price seems down right ridiculous.

Also, no runtime graph to see how well it sustains that type out output. Which is unfortunate.

Granted I'd love to try one out, don't think I'll be shelling that type of money out for it realistically I have no real life use for it anyway, would just be a toy.

Similar price, double the brightness of the old Dominator. Looks cool but I've been cured of interest in Surefire rechargeables with how quickly they drop support for their custom battery packs.
Interesting, didn’t know that was an issue with a company such as SF.

I don’t like custom battery pack flashlights as I like to stock up on batteries…. So they can be used in other flashlights …

Not too appealing to buy a custom battery for $$$ and only be able to use it with 1 light.

I'm OK with proprietary batteries if they're part of an established system with a good track record, ie: Streamlight Stinger, Strion, etc. But I don't think Surefire supports batteries for any older models, and they don't tend to maintain battery compatibility very long. Nearly all (all?) the stuff from the 2000s and 2010s is bricked now.

They’re calling it a dual fuel. I wonder if that just means propriety battery pack and battery carrier for CR123 like the old light?
Would be nice if it has a carrier for 2x21700 or something like that.
My guess is they put a Cree XHP70.3 HI in this thing.
1600 big ones.

ah, that's a good catch.
I wonder what other cells it can run on… also if it'd be at reduced output / runtime and if so - how drastic of a change from the initial battery pack…

I hate how companies leave these things unknown… but they shove the 4400 lumens and 350k cd in your face … it's actually aggravating especially with a light at this price point…

Maybe if I had more answers then questions I would have already purchased it haha

For $183.oo and a rated 6800 lumens at the emitter (so realistically the same output as the new Dominator), I'll stick with my rechargeable JETBeam M64.

I still like SureFire, still have around 2 dozen of them in my collection but the company is just out of touch with regards to their current-day competition.

Just googled this light, never seen it before... That is one cool looking light! -- I also like the fact it runs on 2x 21700 cells

I found some runtime charts online for this light...

Quite impressive! I must say.... Not sure how I've never heard of this light before.

Granted the surefire does look a bit "cooler" haha -- and I don't love the look of the e-switch on the JB

Sadly JETBeam is like Streamlight on CPF.... Gets very little love or attention. But quietly keeps on making some excellent lights.

Oh, when I had a 2400 lm Dominator, I wrote them several letters asking them to finally install normal INR or IMR batteries, 26650 or 21700, and a normal LED. Maybe they did. As far as I can see, the only changes were in the diode and the inside of the batteries. The body, reflector, driver, charger remained the same - no change in the technological process. So it will definitely go on sale if they had sufficient stock of spare parts

It is also unlikely that they changed the landing site, most likely this Luminus CBT-140 there. the same landing places as the CBT90, which was in the previous model

or CFT-90

Although I see Luminus has a new diode with suitable power and better efficiency, it is unlikely in my opinion - CFT-50X-WCS

You’re probably right, they likely stuck to the same lineage of emitter.

Does the Jetbeam accept flat top 21700 unprotected batteries, or are they too short?

They decided to make it cheaper after all :grin2:
My Wurkkos TS30S Pro has the same diode
Not that I’m a prospective buyer but yes, I thought it was a little disappointing.
Looks like the same reflector so I guess sticking to the similar dome-less 9mm emitter makes sense.
Can’t say I’m surprised overall. Hopefully they made some improvements to the battery arrangement by way of both the pack and carrier.

I’d have liked to see something like the CFT-50X-WCS you speculated (that probably wouldn’t happen). The 5mm emitter surface, similar output with what they went with matched to an appropriate reflector would have been cool.

Well, I sold my original recently and miss it. Was a great light and when I got the email thought I’d put the 2nd gen on my want list. Sounds like I better hold off…….

Thanks for popping my bubble!😀
