I'm trying to find out if it's safe to run a Nexgen 500 with an RCR123 (4.2 volt off the charger 3.6 volt rated). I just realized I've had one of these for a couple years in a Firefly and I think I could have been using RCR123's in this but would like confirmation so I don't having any of those smokin' electrons escaping the board :D

My experience with running NG750s and NG1000s with RCR123s has been thus far uneventful.

Initially on a fresh charge the emitter is overdriven since the NG is boost only. Depending on the Vf, it could easily be over 1 amp at first.

But my boards and emitters have been fine, and I continue to EDC an Aleph 1, NG1000, 1 X RCR123 for nearly a year. Swapped out the UWOJ for an SSC P4 last week and it's quite healthy.

I think with the NG500, the difference between the overdriven level and the regulated will be quite pronounced, and it will also remain overdriven for a longer time.
