I just purchased one of these mounts from an auction on eBay. It has an aluminum clamp with a carbon fiber dowel for mounting your light and it comes with some high quality aluminum shims. Despite it being listed as a "Computer Mount" it is very strong and supports my new generator light made by StevelKnievel (soon to be reviewed).

I looked at the Nitto and Topeak models, and I'm sure those work well, but this particular mount is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not a shill - didn't know anything about this mount before I bought it on eBay.

.... looks to be a pretty handy piece of hardware ....
i`ve had occasions when ths stem got in the way of the light mount
and a big plus with this is the light can be centralised
.... yeah i think i`ll try one too

Good point, Hendo! This unit affords a perfectly centered mount. My light uses a TwoFish Lockblock, and it is dead centered in front of the stem clamp. I think you'll like it.

I think there is a similar (but more massive, for heavier weight) make from Sigma.

being clamped to both sides around the stem
