Howdy, gents!

I just completed my first P7 mod using 3 "C" Tenergy NiMh batteries. These particular cells are rated at 1.2V and 5Ah.

For those of you who haven't heard (if not, have you been under a rock?) the new P7 emitter puts out tons of light at ~3.5 V pulling 2.8 amps.

Would 3 Eneloop 2Ah AA NiMh handle that kind of draw? Would it shorten their life?

Any answers, ideas, or observations would be greatly appreciated. Take care!

The eneloop datasheets at
http://www.eneloop.info/209.html (HR-3UTG is the AA cell)
give discharge curves for AAs at 2A and 4A.

If doing a direct drive or low-dropout linear regulation from 3xAAs, the light output will likely have dropped to next-to-nothing before the weakest cell of a set is flat. That should have a positive effect on cycle life, since it's unlikely the weak cell will get hammered by reverse-voltage.
