Ni-MH's loose about 1% a day, but that is 1% of full each day so the second day you would loose something like .98% then .97% and so on. Basically I would recommend them if you use the light regularly or at least once a week. My typical rule of thumb is if you change batteries more then every other week go rechargeable, I rarely recommend them for emergency use or backup. If you use it less it is usually cheaper to stick with alkaline (unless you already have a charger).
I can't say for sure, I know I don't let mine sit for more then 4 weeks (mostly because I use them). Does anyone know for sure the discharge on NiMH's. I know I read at one point it was 1% of the charge in them per day, but I haven't seen that by independent testers, just manufactures.
