Nitecore D10 is sick

Ok, I have been having an issue with my month-old Nitecore D10 SP. Two days ago, it started forgetting it's setting. I loved being able to turn it off and have it come on at the same level. Then it just forgot how to do this. It was always coming on at low. Everything else worked as expected. I was messing about with multiple clicks trying to remember how to lock out so my initial thought was that somehow I disabled the memory mode. I have googled a bit and don't believe that this is possible.

So, I thought, hey let's just clean the contacts, pop in a fresh eneloop and try it again. I did so with no change in status.

So then I thought, let's pull out the pill - I got as far as removing the ring, cleaned the underside of the ring and the top of the pill and then put the ring back in.

Then, the light will only come on in SOS mode. That was annoying. It was also appropriate. I lost my appetite for pulling the pill completely.

Now randomly, it is back to coming on in low only. It cycles through modes just fine. Strobe and SOS are activated normally... just no memory.

Is my D10 sick? Do any of you smart people have any ideas on what I can do?

the only thing I could think to do would be to call nitecore... it sounds pretty sick. :shrug:

I just emailed them to ask. I also just realized that if I loosen the bezel and put it into momentary on mode, it only works in low... since it has no memory. I used to be able to set it on high in momentary mode and it would stay there.
