I switched batteries and the light will not turn on.....cleaned contacts and threads. What else could go wrong....kinda stumped....

Sometimes the little ring that screws the switch into the tail cap comes loose then you lose connection. You would need something kind of pointy to insert into one of those small holes on the ring to tighten.

My guess is wrong kind of top on the battery. You need a small button-top battery for the Nitecore SRT7. The positive contact is recessed & flat top / large button top batteries (over .3" diameter button) don't make connection with the positive contact.

+1 I put a small neodymium magnet on any flat top cell for srt7. I think that when I recently went to high drain it actually got brighter too. I'll have to test and verify. Hope it works out Ken2step.

Orbtronic makes a non protected GA with your choice of flat or button top. The button top will work fine. I myself use 2x18350 AW 800mah IMR's in both my SRT6 and 7. Doing this gives an 80-100 lumen boost.

Thanks guys! I had switched to a flat top and that was the problem. Didn't think it would matter. I'll look in to the magnet tip.

Yes you can use 18350's in the SRT6 and SRT7. Idk about the SRT5 as somebody stole mine a long time ago. You can use the latest high capacity 3500mah GA protected or unprotected cells in the 6 and 7 for max run times. The 6 and the 7 do indeed get a substantial increase in output using 2x sources be they 2xCR123, 2x16340 or 2x18350's. Avoid using 2xCR123's though as the voltage sensor in the 6 and 7 only sense 3 volts when using 2xCR123's. This is a design flaw. The low voltage LED in the head of the 6 and 7 will start flashing as fast as it can as the flawed voltage sensor design is only reading 3 volts despite the fact 2 fresh CR123's are pushing 6 volts. I mean you can do 2xCR123's if you wish but the rapidly flashing red low voltage LED in the head is annoying as heck.

16340's and 18350's charge to 4.20v per cell and that is what the flawed voltage sensor will pick up. The low voltage LED in the head of either light wont start flashing until...trying to remember could be wrong but when voltage drops to 3.7v(?)in one of the 2 cells then the low voltage LED will begin to slowly flash and speed up as voltage drops further.

I use AW button top 800mah IMR 2x18350's in both my SRT6 and 7. Flat tops will not work in either the 6 or 7 as there is a thick plastic disc around the positive contact in the head. This is to prevent the use of unprotected flat top 18650's. I have now been running 2x18350's in both my 6 and 7 for over a year now with zero ill effects. Output is up in both lights 80-100 lumens. This also changes the aspects of the beam profile out of both the lights. The profiles are sharper, more well defined and both lights throw a touch further than with a 1x18650 source. You WILL lose run time though vs 1x18650. By using 2xsources you are basically cutting your run time in half. But for me the performance trade off is more than worth it.

Battery Junction has eFest & Xtar 18350's.

Personally, I prefer the significantly longer runtime of a quality high drain 3500mAh 18650 (about 3 hours continuous with ring set on "turbo") vs less than 30 minutes out of a pair of eFest high drain(7A continuous / 10.5A pulse) 700mAh 18350's.

Especially when the lumen output is only marginally increased - selfbuilt's review of the SRT7 shows 790 lumens with an AW protected 2200mAh 18650 cell vs 870 lumens with a pair of AW protected 750mAh RCR123 cells.
