I have a MSA10 and have a 14500 in it. The light works fine with a higher max, but still have the low mode. However, since I don't have a MSC10 I cannot be sure it will work with a 16340.

Your MSA10 lists a working voltage of .9-1.6. If it's working fine with a 4.2v battery, I'd guess the MSC10 would as well, but I'd write Niteye and ask. Most likely it's a heat issue or you might shorten the life of the LED but only if you tend to run it on high. If your typical use is <50% of max I doubt you'd see anything.

I had the same thoughts about my Beta QR so I wrote Jason and asked him about running a 10440 in it. Without hesitation he told me it would fry the driver, so, no go for me. Pity because I would love to see what that light could do on a 10440.
