See http://186thousand.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=000015 for a few details. I will be adding this to my site very soon.

Comes with P60 lamp assembly for ~60 minutes of runtime; can be used with the P61 LA for increased brightness; but at the cost of a 20-minute runtime on 2x CR123s. Also has a Pyrex lens (the P61 won't melt through that one), combat grip, and lockout tailcap.

Despite being made of "plastic" (more like a nylon compound I think), the G2Z has a nice heft and feel in the hand, and has no looseness or cheap feel to it at all. It comes with an adjustable lanyard with two spring-loaded adjustment stoppers; this lanyard is affixed to a metal ring near the tailcap. Both lanyard and ring can be removed if you want to holster the light. It is water resistant and submersible - though I don't know the depth rating.

I've been posting that the G2Z was close to release!

The G2Z kicks G2 butt for features.

The G2Z is the 2nd most impressive SureFire I've ever field-testing after the M2. I would put it more robust then the M3T. The M3T is a larger heavier flashlight. One the great advantages of the Nitrolon G2Z is it's light-weightness.

I was actually quite impressed with the G2Z, even with the stock P60 lamp it comes with. Even more so when I popped in a P61.

Brightness-to-size ratio is excellent, and you can accidentally drop it in a bucket of gasoline and not have to worry about the finish deteriorating or the lens becoming crazed or hazy. Might smell funny for awhile afterwards, but I don't know too many people who are offended by the smell of gasoline.

Too much gasoline vapour turns you hair shocking shades of green...

I'm still carrying the G2Z around in my rucksack.
The Beam looks as if it is shining through a cracked lens. D'Oh!

Dear Mr. LED Museum:
I've been searching for a "cute little light" to buy for my girlfriend to carry in her purse. Do you think the G2Z is a good candidate? Will the lock out feature prevent it from - how shall I say this - setting fire to her purse?

Of course I broke the Pyrex

At work, I lead a team of technicians who get paid to break toughened glass.

But abusive field-testing of the G2Z was something I needed to do in order to be confident that when I say the G2Z is tough, I can mean it.
I know how much abuse it can take before the Lens cracks. (It was a test to see whether a bulb would blow or the Pyrex Lens break first - the bulb has not blown)

I'll see if I can get photos tomorrow.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The "Nitrolon" is a polymer mix with a very high strength/weight ratio. It's SureFire's own proprietary compound. I recall that a part of the mix is Teflon to aid the thread performance.
It's details like that which make SureFire's special to me.
And so as to assure good conductivity and reliability, the Nitrolon SF's have a metal tube lining the entire inner part of the body, not a strip or wire.

Hey, the first time I saw that it was a pleasant surprise to me - I had wondered how you could organise a good circuit in a polymer body to the SF level of assurance.
(I hadn't thought of a metal tube ... )

Sure you can put it in your pocket, but for E2e uses like me, I'd miss the PocketClip and strongly consider a belt pouch for the G2Z.

It is longer then the E2e.

Al

Hmm! Belt pouch? I wonder if that will be possible with the grip ring. If so, the G2Z might be the first light that could replace my belt carried 6P.

Hmm!

I took the pic a few days ago. Sorry about the censoring, but it's necessary. Please don't even ask what it is because I can't tell you yet.
