Non-flashaholics using your lights.....

In this situation Google is your friend 😀

the internet prevails when it comes to proving people wrong, shoehorn concepts into eyeball sockets, or hack and pry open closed minds when it comes to flashlight design, performance, and price😀

Then you might meet one of those people who claims internet prices lies.:candle:
Consider this: Once AIM msg'd a past coworker who wanted an A2 Aviator...asked me the cost and heres part of that log

I dunno what surefire could do to help him, but I know he won't be a potential customer:nana:

I feell all your pain....

I have had a few lights damaged by careless D-bags....
So now I am anal as sin as far as not lending my lights out...

There is only one co-worker that I will lend my lights to when needed, but he seriously respects the value of (both money and sentimental) my lights.
But at the same time I respect his tools when needed also.....

I don't think I could live with myself if I became the type of person that wouldn't loan someone a freaking flashlight. You guys need to lighten up a bit.

Wait till you buy a $400 light after saving up whats left of your paycheck for 2 years then have it come back with a ding.
thats how I managed to afford my M6 and nope it has not been touched by foreign hands, yet🙂

i snatched the light back and promptly put it back in it's holster. i wanted
to seriously kick him in the nuts. I dont hand him any more of my stuff.

I'm sure he really deserved it. I shudder to think what would have happened if the lanyard had broken and the light took flight. 😱

I LOL'd on that one. :ohgeez:No I don't believe SF made a pricing mistake either. 😀

I let my little cousin borrow my McGizmo and he dropped it. Several times. I just laughed.

Dropped is fine, it's when they are never seen again that has some of us concerned. :sick2:

I like the idea of all the ones who think we are uptight about not just handing our lights out to anyone who says they want to use them put together a fund for which we can sign up. Then when we have a claim about a Surefire, McGizmo or Aeon that never came home, they can buy us a new one, and the whole world will be a happy place to borrow peoples flashlights again. :twothumbs

Living with myself is no problem at all. 🙂

Problem is living & working with all of these other folks.

I give Fenix LOD's or P2d's, now PD20's for gifts, or make them buy them from me. I just make sure everyone around me has their own so they dont ask for my better stuff. Being a knifemaker they know what my knives cost, when I let them handle a cool light in front of me the first thing they ask is how much for this one!

Only 'cus they know you're armed with a knife! 😀

today, 2 guys from a large rental company came in, to have some service on their loudspeakers. They tried to explain what was wrong, they pointed out to something we didn't see... until I handed over the L1 LumaMax.

"Cool light! Expensive, ehhh??" was what one of them immediately said. Well, he got it right 😉

He desperately tried to let it stay on... as it has a twisty switch, he didn't understand (of course not, anyone seeing that the first time, assumes that big, black button is a clicky....)
So I turned it on for him.... and after he did his explanation, he tried to get it off.... by desperately pushing the button again 😀

he, too, left the light on when it was not in use (of course, in high) but wtf.... I bought ten new SF CR123s.... on behalf of the company! Now, virtually anybody uses this light... and me paying for the batteries? NO, that's too much.... I already gave permission to let them use it :green:

Timmo.

The classic Surefire conversation between the Flashaholic and the Non-Flashaholic.

This reminded me of a guy from work. I usually carry some advil or excedrin pills with me at work because I get headaches a lot. Every now and then I'll let somebody have one if they're hurtin'.

I guess this one guy knew about it, and he said he had a headache and asked if I had anything for it. I gave him one (of my two) excedrin, and he looked at me and said "Just one?"

I thought WTF!!?

Should've told him the first one's free, additional ones are 5 bucks each!

HA! Same here -- I always keep those in my duty bag (well, Tylenol anyway). I had those out like candy to co-workers that ask for them... But I'm not the only one who hands them out, thankfully. I can't watch someone suffer with a headache if I can help them out for pennies.

I let my little cousin borrow my McGizmo and he dropped it. Several times. I just laughed.

your titanium fleet can bungee jump staircases without dings, try the same with an aluminum light on tile/masonry floor...I bet you won't be chucking quite so hard if you went the cheap way

Back when I worked in a truck shop, I learned real quick not to loan out good stuff. I've lost plenty of adjustable wrenches, hammers, and pliers to drivers that just disappeared than I can count. It got so bad I bought a dollar store tool set and spray painted it bright pink, and kept it just for loaner tools. I can't make them bring it back, but I can sure make them remember where it came from. I actually had a few folks decide they didn't need to borrow tools as much when they saw they got the bright pink ones. 😀

For flashlights, especially at my current job, it's a little different. I EDC an E2D my wife bought me as a gift our first year together. It's scratched, dinged, and has a lot of anodizing missing from being in the same pocket as my keys for several years. I manage to drop it about once a week. You can't borrow that one.

On the other hand, one of my coworkers got me a River Rock light from Target this last Christmas. It takes AA batteries (that the company supplies us with), provides better light than the stock MiniMags some of my coworkers have, and actually isn't a bad little light. It's become the loaner. I don't have to be a jerk, not letting you use my light, but I also don't have to worry about expensive batteries being run down, or a light with very significant sentimental value disappearing or being irrepairably damaged (run over by heavy equipment). Likewise, when I work with my buddy that bought me the light, it makes him feel good to see that it's a bit scratched up, and I actually use it. Everybody wins.

E2D being irrepairably damaged (run over by heavy equipment).

Just a little fun, but I don't know that an SF being ran over by "heavy equipment" would make irrepairably damaged. They're that tough. My favorite is the C2 surviving a direct bomb blast from an IED. Or the C3 being ran over by the cruiser...or an L4 being ran over by a hummer...
