Noob Question (how to change rubber switch boot)

On lights such as Olights and Fenix lights with the clickie tailcaps, they always come in box with a spare "rubber switch boot" for the clickie.

How to you change that? Brute force ripping it out and brute force putting the other one in?

Look at the bottom of the tailcap. You should see a ring with two holes opposite each other in it. Use something to get into those holes(the right pliers work well) and unscrew the retaining ring.

Things should be easy from there.
 
it might sound like overkill to go out and buy a pair of snapring pliers, but it will be alot easier to remove it and will keep you from scratching it up

luckily i have a well stocked toolbox, but a pair shouldnt run more than a few dollars
 
wonder if putting it back is hard..
i've opened a china brand cheap light and couldn't put it back in 1 piece..
