From reading the posts, am I correct in assuming that the T is the preferred choice? The only difference I can see between the T and P is that the P allows you to program or select between 1-22 brightness levels for one of the brightness settings. I don't know why I find this so confusing. I've read and re-read the documentation many times. I want to use it for a EDC, and I definitely want the disorienting strobe function, so I'm thinking the "T" would be my best choice? I could sure use some feedback.

Howdy,
Be sure and read this page:

http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=30

That should answer most of your questions. Of course the T stands for Tactical.... so that light is designed with tactical performance in mind.... so one of the differences between it and P is that the T model has a protruding tail switch, to make it easier and quicker to turn on, while the P model has an inclosed tail switch, which should allow it tail stand easier (for candle mode), and also gives less of a chance of accidentally turning on in your pocket, but might be slightly more difficult to access quickly.

For me, I like the idea of the P model because I think you can program it to operate just like the tactical model if you want..... or.... you can change the program to suit other needs at a later date.... and I like that kind of flexibility.

Keep reading and you'll figure out which one will best suit YOUR needs.

With the 120P you can place the disorienting strobe on one of the 4 (programmable) brightness settings. You can also choose the tactical mode and maybe, you even could use alternatively a T-tailcap. The 120P is a multifunctional flashlight similar to the HDS Ultimate series. I have two Ultimates (60, 60GT) and in a little while it's really simple riding through the functions and setting your very personal brightnes levels etc.
I have pre-ordered an EDC 120-P.

The second UserGuide includes the T-model.

I was very hesitant to start this thread because I thought you might think I was asking others to do the work for me, but I was truly confused, and I really wanted some practical advice. This is the classiest (if that's a word) forum community anyone could hope to join. I was always the guy who never raised his hand in school b/c I thought my questions were dumb. Thanks again for your help. It's all coming together for me. Jim

Go for the "P"--more flexibility, easy user interface, tailstand capabilities (if need be).

For the T version that has a protruding switch, is there an straightforward lock mechanism to prevent accidental activation?

I asked Lighthound and he said he sold twice as many "P" models as the others combined.

Always go with the "P" model. You don't have to program it if you don't want to. If you choose (and you can figure out the manual) you can make a "P" operate just like a "T" or you can even turn the programming off.

+ there is no cost difference between P and T models for a given lumen output

I had this question before i placed an order through lighthound. P or T???
I would agree with most of people that the P version is nice because the fact that you can program it the way you like it. You can even program it like the T version. When i was in Houston for a business trip, I had the chance to meet with Optic_Nerve a Member here in CPF. At that time, he brought many of his nice collection including the P and T version Nova's.
For me, I like the feel of the T version due to the fact that i have a big thumb and the T version switch is portuding out. This make it easy for me to access the switch without trying to feel for it. But i guess that you can buy a clicky switch just like the T version. So i would say, go for the P if you can switch the tail cap.

We were gonna go to Lighthound but didnt have enough time cause they close @ 4:30 pm. (darn!! i was there too!!)

I thought someone posted that there's a way to get the T model to behave like a P ... or rather, a P with a big button. They never posted the instructions though, so it's unclear. Until then, I'd stick w/ the P.
