Re: another legend found dead

This one seriously sucks. As much as his ads annoyed me/everyone, he found a special place in my heart with his ESPN ad. That was outstanding!

Definitely RIP

What's next? Billie Mays, famous TV pitchman, found unresponsive in his home. He was on a flight from Philly to Tampa yesterday, and as the plane was landing in Tampe it blew a tire. The jolt caused crap to fall from the overhead bins, and something hit him on the head. I''m guessing he sustained a hematoma...

Well the volume button on my remote will certainly get less use. Sad for him and family.

He was an icon of everything that is corny about TV advertising, but an icon nonetheless. And apparently he was a good family man. Gotta give him a lot of credit for that.

What a strange week for the entertainment industry.

What a shame. I really enjoyed him on Pitchmen. I guess that show is doomed now. I just watched an episode this morning. R.I.P., Billy.

It looks like the newest is Gale Storm.

She may be an unknown to the younger ones here, but those of us old enough to remember My Little Margie, Oh! Susanna (The Gale Storm Show) and her hit records, would consider her very significant. She was 87, and had been in poor health for a few years.

I always thought Mays was incredibly annoying, until I accidentally caught an episode of Pitchmen. I've seen a couple more episodes since, and it's surprisingly interesting. Mays still comes off as a little annoying, but you have to respect his talent. He was very, very good at what he did.

I too found him annoying, but watching Pitchmen and this thing on As Seen on TV on MSNBC(I think?) where he talked about his yelling, he stated "If I go 'hi Billy Mays here to sell.....' it just doesn't get their attention, but if I'm like 'HI BILLY MAYS HERE TO SELL!!!!..' it just seems to just grab your attention." I'm sure I got the words wrong, but the idea is right, and he IS right about what he said. They also talked about he's the new Ron Popeil. I really liked his personality on Pitchmen sort of a no BS, this is how it is and how it's going to be attitude. That guy knew what he was doing. I especially loved how he got ticked at that Sullivan dude and said he was going to kick his a** LMAO!!!

I'll miss that guy. RIP Billie.

:wtf:

He's dead?? Damn! Something freaky is going on.

He was a great pitchman. Even had a show on A&E I believe it was. Him and Anthony Sullivan behind the scenes, showing us how their infomercials were put together. It was actually a very interesting show. I saw a few episodes. It showed us another side of Billy Mays, other than the screaming pitchman.

I'm actually going to miss him.

R.I.P.
