Odd happenings at Wal-Mart.

So, I'm there very early last Wednesday morning. Just me, and two other random shoppers in the whole place. But okay, just going to mind my own business. Buy what I came for, ended up buying two very nice shirts too. Looked for a HART cordless vacuum. It's $99, far from the best but should get the job done. And, quite a bit less expensive than a Ryobi version that is only a hair better according to one online review. Nope! None in the store. So, I go looking for HART power-tools in general (Wal-Mart's upgraded in-store brand.) They had almost nothing in the store. Which was bizarre. I did stumble onto the main HART item I wanted, a large set of impact-rated drivers. Very last one in the store.

Walk up to the cashier. By now I know the deal, so decide not to ask if the cash registers are working. For about a full year, this Wal-Mart only takes credit or debit cards. That's not their official store policy, but that's what they do. Whenever you ask, they apologize that the cash registers are down. Yeah.... Right.... Sure they are....

Then when I let her know I'll be needing to purchase a bag, she informs me several times that they are out of bags.... as in, in the entire frickin' store. Literally out of bags. But then tells me she has one. The very last one in the store. Mentions it's similar to an Ikea bag in size and shape. (Very shallow, but very wide.)

Yeah, sure; I'll take it.

It's not just that store though. Ordered several items on Wal-Mart's website. All of the ones Wal-Mart sells in their stores arrived very quickly. No issues. Not one item from any 3rd party vendor on their site ever arrived. Not one. Definitely not happy with that BS. Scammers used to infect Etsy about 3 years ago. Apparently all of them moved over to Wal-Mart's official website.

The thing that really gets me was the total lack of bags at that Brick & Mortar location. If this was some small Mom & Pop store, I could understand if they ran out. But this is Wal-Mart! How do you NOT have bags early in the morning; in the middle of the week!?!?

Any of you guys experienced something similar when going to a Wal-Mart?

When WalMart said they were going to stop selling guns many people got upset. I said "have you seen the shoppers there? Do you really think about half of them should own a gun? I don't".

2nd Amendment aside, there's a shload of people in America who ought not be allowed to own a pocket knife, much less a gun.

I'm not too familiar with the US Walmarts, have they stopped selling plastic bags and gone over to the crappy re-usable ones as well?

I only ever grace the Walmarts here with my presence once or twice a year. That's only to buy underwear and bulk packs of BIC lighters for hunting season. Maybe I will hit the discount DVD bin if I'm in the store. I can find better prices on most items they carry elsewhere. The fresh fruits and vegetables are the most expensive and in the worst condition of any other local grocer. All of their clothes shrink the first time you wash them. I cant stand that store.

My Better 3/4s for 39 years and I visited the local lawn and garden business Monday and purchased a Stihl backpack blower. Sans any signage or a word from the owner, we were charged a 4% non-cash transaction fee. It was $25. If I knew this surcharge was now store policy, I would've driven to our bank and withdrew the needed cash.

The sale was completed before I was aware of the surcharge. Other customers were waiting, and not wanting to embarrass my wife we left the store.

I'm still a little sore about it. :wtf:

I noticed the same thing. I tried to contact wallyworld to let them know their site has scam products and prices (not complaining mind you but informing them). Never heard from them not even an automated message. One product did get taken down off the site. It was a M*glite that was about 5 or 6x the price it should have been. Not sure if it was a mistake or scam but it was gone in a day.

I don't shop there anymore. No need to.

Regarding plastic bags ~
The nearest Wal-Mart to me has gotten rid of them.
But that's due to our previous Governor banning them.
Ironically one week before COVID hit here in NYC, back in March 2020.
So, just like supermarkets, bring your own bags.
Or buy the heavier-duty store brand ones when done shopping.
That Wal-Mart used to be like that. Apparently, not anymore!
Bring your own bags, or screw you!

Regarding Wal-Mart's website ~
There's also scammers who do the opposite.
List items lower than what other websites do.
Take your money. Don't ship anything out at all.
Close up shop when too many customer complaints come through.
Wal-Mart doesn't seem to care as long as they get their cut.

Thinking it over, maybe I should count myself lucky that Wal-Mart still doesn't charge customers an extra fee to shop there before 10am.

I remember the huge uproar for a short time when Costco increased their membership fee from $60 to $65. But few focused on the nonsense that Sam's Club (Wal-Mart with membership fees) engaged in at around the same time. Made Costco look down right Saintly with ONLY a $5.oo increase. Had no clue Sam's Club charged extra if you were a member but wanted to shop there before 10am! Seriously, no one else does that! An extra fee to shop at certain times of the day?? When your doors open, that's when your customers/members should be able to shop freely.

As far as the Wal-Mart online scammers, I didn't lose too much money. And, replaced the items that didn't arrive by ordering similar ones from a few other websites. But yeah, unless it indicates on Wal-Mart's website that your items are all shipping direct from Wal-mart, don't bother ordering stuff from their website.

California has bands on plastic bags in certain coastal areas. Stores are back to using recycled paper bags. The handles are strong enough if not overloaded.

I am not one of those tree hungers, but can live without the plastic in the landfills. It's a menace in the oceans.

Pelicans aren't the smartest birds, they'll eat anything.

When not sitting in garbage, they look downright majestic.

My issue is, if stores and politicians want us to use reusable bags,
then those bags should be available for purchase when a customer is done shopping. I don't think that's an unrealistic expectation.

I'm with you monocrom. California is about to ban all bags except the heavier reusable bags. Obviously, use what you have old t-shirt plastic bags or cloth or whatever. But there had better be one waiting for me at the counter if I don't have one or forget mine in the car trunk. (which I sometimes do)

I'm all for keeping things clean and being a good steward of what we're given. But I'm also lazy so don't make me work too hard to do it. LOL
Politicians need to learn to K.I.S.S.

At this point, I'd settle for them just being better at hiding their bribery, corruption, and fraudulent dealings. I'd rather they stop doing all that, but I'm realistic. Our Mayor here in New York City being a prime example of what NOT to do.

Gave you a Like for the fact that you decided to live.
But I'm thinking you might have posted that in the wrong topic, maybe?

yeah lol im half a sleep that miami game last night had me up all night cussing at clouds lol. man what a crazy game

Things so odd, decided to order my two new Wrangler cargo pants online, along with a new Wind-breaker online as well (NOT from Wal-Mart.com) rather than just driving to Wal-Mart and buying those items there. Both cargo pants have already arrived safe & sound.
