i know what youll say but looks matter to me too and of all the lights it looked compact bright and what i will most likely use even when the trip is over for "just gotta have light" situations. a bit pricey but hey it will be 5w modible in the future and that is good.

so tell me all the good stuff about it please

I got the SL4, which I'm pretty happy with for a long throw light. I was going to get the SL6 because of the increased output, but didn't want the extra bulk. TX

Get some long pencil erasers like they use in erasing machines. Split one lengthwise down the middle.

Place one full strip on one side between the batteries and the half strip on the other side and presto...no rattle.

Cheers,

Richard

Aragorn, if u stick in a 5WLS, where r ya going to sink the heat (assuming its being operated out-of-water)? The new 5Ws are supposedly so hot that even Lumileds is strongly wording their datasheet to always use secondary heatsinking and *never* to run the bare emitter alone - even for a couple moments - ouch!

Wonder if a fully internal heatsink just to pipe heat away from the junction is possible...

So wazzup, dude - working on a top secret new mod to unleash on the world? I waiting with bated breath...

The SL6 has an 8W incandescent in it...so they can manage (with a solid aluminium reflector integral to the lamp) to get the heat out...now if I can figure out how long I can run the 30W in the D8 that's coming (via 3-day) before I melt the lens...

Cheers,

Richard
