Oh, my, this forum has been a great knowledge source. As a result, I have my Fenix L1D Q5, my Olights - M20 Warrior Premium and M30 Triton, and my Eagle Tac M2XC4. Morning walks with the dog are entertaining - watching the beam light up the darkness both near and far.

Far? How Far? 100 yards? 50 yards? NOT FAR ENOUGH! It is the "Tim Taylor" Syndrome (remember the show Home Improvement?) It is time for the Binford 8000 of flashlights!!

So what is next? What I would like is a light with the pattern of the M30 but the throw of the C2 - only 50 yards further. I'd like for it to use 186500 batteries so my stable of rechargeables would remain useful.

Any ideas? Oh, and can you do it for $200-250?

It is a sickness, and I'm loving every minute of it!!

I don't think LEDs will actually cover your needs and you'll have to look for some HID.

I can't make any suggestions, perhaps there also exists a mod with a few LEDs to power you up. LedLenser X21 or how is this thing called? 😎

I`m sorry to say you bought some really fantastic stuff...maybe just have fun on the forum for a while...take a vacation from buying and save your$$$. They`ll be some new even brighter stuff coming out after a while...

you can always build your own light with one of those luminus SST-50 or SST-90 LEDs at 5-9 amps a figure out a way to collumenate (i made it up) all that light into a thrower....2250 lumens doesn't sound too shabby from a single LED does it?

I'm intrigued. You got my attention - that might be fun. Forgive my laziness - I didn't search - but are there examples within the forum? Thanks for the idea!

Look into aspheric, but if youre looking for MUCH more light. get into hotwires.

there isn't a whole lot of info on the SST-50 yet, but there are people that have some of the lower bins as experimental and I think there is a beamshot somewhere...The surface of the die is larger, so the brightness to surface area ratio is lower than the CREE R2, but I'm think 3 of the SST-90 good bins (2250 lumens each at 9 amps) and a BIG maglite with good heat sinking and a few AW18650s running parallel and a REALLY good lensing system you could put out a lot of lumens 5k maybe more OTF? I haven't done all the research yet as I am waiting for the good bins to be released. The driver will be the hard part. But if you figure it out...I will be really interested to see the schematics:naughty:
