Old Trustfire at overvoltage

Have been rummaging through my old collection and came across my old C2-T60. I had nothing to lose, so stuffed a couple of 16340's in instead of a single 18650. the lux doubled and nothing went bang! Has anyone tried this on a sustained basis? Does anyone have a spec for the drive electronics to give an idea of whether they can cope? Thanks.

Especially (very efficient) 1*Li-Ion drivers drivers can be very sensitive to overvoltage
 
Or the cells are junk and lack the power to blow up the driver. Not something i would do to a light i cared about.
 
Thanks for the responses. Nah, it's not a light I care about, so I tried a sustained run with protected cells. It's tough! It ran for about 3 minutes before becoming insanely hot (too hot to touch) and cutting out, with no prior diminution. After cooling, it ran happily, with no apparent detriment. That's it, experiment over, I don't have appropriate PPE and fire fighting equipment to continue :).

Interesting experiment though...

Perhaps you missed the post title, the flashlight is a "Trustfire"

Pretty much any "old" flashlight, with "fire" in the name (not being a SureFire, that is) is pure junk to start with, so I'd say no chance of being a cared about light.

And yes, I wasted my money on trying a couple of "Trustfire" lights, back in the day, and yes they were junk.

But they did save me money in the long run, as I then learned NOT to purchase any more lights with "fire" in the name, excluding SureFire, of course
