Hi, just bought the M31 Triton with SST-50 and 800 lumen OTF!

I compared it to my Jetbeam M2S with OP Reflector and 1000 lumens (LED Lumens, maybe +-750 OTF)

Olight has a tighter spot and a bit more bright hotspot. But it's not the huge difference as I expected.

Luxmeter says up to 45 000 Lux for M31.

For example... Catapult V2 has 35 000 lux and the Jetbeam M2S I don't know... maybe +- 30 000 (cause it's an OP).

BUT.. now EagleTac's M3C4 is on start... but ET says for his M3C4 with SST-50 just 10 500 lux, with op reflector.

What the hell? Don't know if they drunk or whatever... 10,5k lux.. thats nothing.

should I go with Eagletac or keep the M31....? it's a nice light but what wud u say?

Or go with Catapult V2 ? Can't decide...

help.

I have seen a M31 at the local dealer and at the time he just got them in. Turned it on and I knew I wanted one right then  Man is it bright!

KEEP IT and maybe get a Catapult later (remember the motto get both!)

EagleTac is clueless. They don't update their web site, they don't answer their email, so perhaps they can't make good lights anymore either. That would be a shame but from the outside the company seems to be completely clueless. The few times I talked to somebody they acknowledged issues and pretty much did not care to do anything about them. They have always made great lights so and I have a few. I really hope the cluelessness does not reach the engineers that design the lights. In other words I would keep the m31.

I have the M31 and absolutely LOVE IT!!! I wouldn't get rid of it...it's a very good...no awesome, capable light!

If I were you, I'd keep it.

Cheers!

thx for comments.

don't know why eagletac don't update their website... thats something I noticed to...

in another thread I read the ET M3C4 runs with 2.8 amps (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=279383&page=3).

olight goes with more then 4, isn't it?

However.. I would like to compare both lights but ET has an OP Reflector.... thats the good news. Love OP... smooth und nice beam.... the m31 throws a tight spot far away, but not even further than my M2S with OP, thats why I wonder....

@ all with M31

my M31 has arround the spot an undefinable brightness area... it's not completely smooth around the spot. But the led fits 100% perfect in mid.

The tint is slightely yellow with a touch of green in it in mid and low mode.
In high the hotspot ist white and arround little yellow.

Hope that is normal ;)

to Catapult v2:
Had it few weeks ago for 2 days...
but hard to decide it is better than M31 or not...
User interface is more easier then olight. If I want to go from high to low I MUST pass strobe... poop strobe... useless...:hitit:

now it's ur turn:D

my apologizes to not sticking to the topic, but what dealer are you talking about in LA with Olights??? and do they have other lights from different manufacturers? only dealers i know of are surefire dealers. and then frys carries fenix lights, as well as surefire, inova, led lenser.

I have Catapult V2 and M31. IMO their performance is quite the same. But I usually leave house with M31, since its more handy and Catapult is a bit too bulky. So I think this is a matter of taste and practical preferences.

oh thx.. ur my man!

please take a look at the hotspot.. which one is more white (in the hotspot is a true white area) in max mode??? v2 or m31 ???

I'm agree with u that the m31 is more handy. And has a clip :)

Please take a look outside at night in a long distance.

AND: do u also have some fringe around the spot?

M31 is for sure more white, but I havent yet made my mind which one renders colors more correctly. In fact, I dont care a lot, since these are throwers, not medical lights. Also M13 may have a tad better throw.

- so, yes, there are some performance differences..

what, no medical lights? 200 dollars and not medical ready? what a poop
;)

for sure m31 is more white?

damn, I can't remeber... had a Cat V2 for 2 days but I thought it was a bit more white. Hmmmm....

u run both lights with CRC123 3.7 V ?

Well, I use only medical bulbs on my mod-Mags ..

Olight and Catapult were tested using unprotected Sony 18650's. This might sound some kind of blow hard reply, but since by trade I take care digital printing, color correction etc., I have some confidence on speaking color tints and stuff like thats. :)
