I'm still using an Olight M3XS-UT Javelot that i bought 6 years ago. I'm curious how this older model stacks up against the newer realeased throwers from Olight, such as the Javelot Pro 2 or Javelot Turbo?

Their performance still seem to be in the same ball park with the older model i'm using. Does anyone here own both and can tell for a comparison?

I'm also interested to know how the M3XS-UT compares to more modern throwers of the same size from other brands as well. Does this old thrower still hold up against newer releases?

I have the M3XS-UT too.. the only reason I don't upgrade Olight lights is proprietary batteries or other proprietary stuff. I have 2 Malkoff Hound Dog Supers one cool one neutral 4000k. They reach far enough, but if you want a dedicated thrower I'd stick to an American made like a Surefire 100k candela 700 lumen, (pocketable and duel fuel still 95k candela on (2) SF123A cells.) Modlite HOG 170k candela about 700 lumens or the other modlite head at 120k candela and 1300 lumens. Cloud Defensive....but not another Olight for me.

I agree. I'm not planning to upgrade either for the same reason. I'm mostly just curious about what their product development looks like since i bought mine.

There is this newish emitter with a crazy name that seems to give some pretty crazy throw.

The Catapult Mini has it. Osram KW CSLNM1.TG ?
I got a Convoy light with it. "Convoy C8+ with KW CSLNM1.TG 6500K,18650 flashlight" The beam stays very close together and gives some pretty crazy throw.

IMO, a thrower should use at least a 18650 or 21700 or 26650. Probably just because all the throwers I've ever known have had this type of power source.
