The project isn't really evolving any. Other than the driver details the design of the light has been set for some time. I have even bought all the LEDs needed for this project. This new release from Cree does pique my interest but I cannot say at this time if I will be switching gears.

Will you be discontinuing the DEFT at the point when you are
making these?

The DEFT will not be discontinued. I will have some news on this front very soon.

Saabluster, I would absolutely love to say to you "put me on your list" like so many other of our good patrons, unfortunately I know I am completely incapable of producing the level of funds that this (in all likeliness) excellent work of art will require. I hope you will allow me to still mention to you that I greatly anticipate the release of a light such as this promises to be, in spite of my inability to participate?

I know you produce excellent quality items purely via word of mouth, and in an acedemic sense I still cannot wait to see what this beauty ends up being.

Saabluster, I just want to double check my understanding of being added to the list. By being added, I assuming it is listed as interest in ordering one depending on the final price. If it is binding in any way I will unfortunately have to be removed from the list.

You are correct. Although I certainly hope that someone who gets on the list will do so with some seriousness and thought given to doing so I cannot hold people to that when they haven't even seen the light or the final price. Thank you for giving this due consideration.
 
Thanks for the clarification Saabluster, consider me still on the list and very interested! Have you decided on the type of LED going in this badboy, and I completely understand if you cannot disclose that information?

Yes. That decision was made quite some time ago and all of the LEDs have been bought already.
 
Just thought I'd show everyone a real quick photo of my new toy. This is one more piece of the puzzle in seeing the Black Tie come to life.

Alright, I'm stupid, what is it, or more importantly, what does it do? I see it's some type of mill, but where is the buttons, controls and stuff? Is it all run via PC?:thinking: Can it make a Black Tie by itself, or is there other machining involved? How many axes does it do? I'd be up for some demonstration time when your shop doors open.
