I might get one of these (L197-H) for my personal automobile. 21W HID bulb, 1000 hrs. bulb life, 3.5 hours runtime, and 850 Lumens should take care of anything else the Magcharger can't.
YIPES! I was doing a search on Yahoo to look for prices on this thing, and it looks like i'd rather save my money for the X990!
At 894.00 dollars, i'd rather get two x990s. But it does have a 3.5 hour runtime with a 21w HID...now that's pretty good. But its too expensive for what it is. You might as well save a few more hundred dollars to get the Maxabeam.
Are you going to use these under water? It's not uncommon for dive lights to not worry about heat dissipation due to them being submersed--free liquid cooling. Back out in the air, they can heat up and, uhh, fail in various painful fashons.
Very sweet light, and amazingly well made. Focusable beam is very nice, and dazzling in a 21w HID. I don't like the battery packs, however. They are a good lead-acid pack, but archaic nonetheless. I tried to purchase one of their beautiful light heads last year to attach to a diy NiMH pack, but they didn't want me experimenting with their product.
As far as the price goes, typical for dive gear. It has to go to 150+ feet and be absolutely reliable. For some reason cave divers get damned irritated when they have just swum 30 minutes into a cave system (which means 30 minutes out plus a deco stop before surfacing is an option) and their light goes out. Go figure
