If you had to buy one LED flashlight, with a budget of $500, but the catch was it was the only flashlight you were allowed to use for the rest of your life what would you get?

So basically is has to be a very good all rounder...

Fire away...

Ahaaa.

Well, it wouldn't fill the limit, but the UB2 for the off-the-shelf light. Versatility, ya know.

Build-it-'yerself..

Cree MC-E underdriven with a few-CR123 form factor for 600ish lumens, titanium body and somewhat aggressive knurling. Removable bezel-down pocket clip, 12ish modes. I'm not sure if it would run 'ye over $500, but probably not.

UB2 would probably be my choice too but i'd reserve judgement until i see run times on high output!

Well i thought this thread would be a lot more popular, 100+ people viewing this section of the forum and only 2 people ahve contributed....

Maybe the idea of only ebing allowed one flashlight is too much for some to handle:mecry:

If the $500 budget is a little bit flexible, I'd go for a hypothetical future Lunasol 27 using high-CRI leds throughout.

If it had to be a production light a UB2 but my FM body 1 D mag P7 tri flupic is one of the most versatile lights I've ever owned.

I'd pocket the $500 and go back to my incans.

You see, no one single torch can meet all my needs, because one of my non-negotiable requirements is for single-mode-only.

But if I can only have one LED torch, and must have an LED torch, then I suppose that means ditch the EDC, and stay with either the P7 or the 128-LED showerhead.

This might sound like an odd choice, but this is because that, for me:
1) EDC is an unnecessary indulgence
2) the P7 & the 128 represent the two things that LED can do that incan cannot.

Actually, a 2C RoP will do everything a P7 will do, come to think of it, so my LED of choice, logically, must be the 128-LED showerhead. It's the one LED torch I really CANNOT do without.

I would find a way to increase my budget for a Wiseled Tactical. Else, a Wiseled Street.

For me today it would be a Surefire U2, still a very useful light even after so much time and so many new entries.

Tomorrow probably an SF UA2. BTW tomorrow or the day after or ... :p

I would go for a Fenix L2D/L1D as they can run off alkalines well at lower levels. They are not the only light to do this but they are a great choice and my personal favourites if I could only have one light.
