I'm about to buy the Opalec NewBeam for the Mag AA. Dumb question...but there doesnt seem to be an option of different colour kits. I have a blue Mag, so does the kit not modify the external light at all...hence no colour selection? Thanks for any help!!

Hmm solder your own LEDs in? Don't think that's possible though, otherwise I would get it in UV version for C001ness.....

Hmmmmmmm ... If Opalec offered a UV drop-in I'd have to seriously consider it, and a friend who does building inspections would love it (he uses portable UV lights to look for, uh, things that "glow" and need to be cleaned up).

OK...I've answered my own question!

I don't think it does effect the externals of the light...I'm off to order!!!!!

You can buy a little kit for the MagAA that has 3 replacement lenses - one yellow, one red, one clear. Costs about $5. You could use the yellow or red lense in front of the Opalec to get a red or yellow light. I'm not sure if this is what your question is asking, but maybe it will be helpful.

kev1-1, you are correct, the entire Newbeam module and reflector goes inside the Minimag and does not affect the outside appearance of the flashlight, so there is no need to match the color of the exterior anodizing of your Minimag.

I think some of the other responses refer to the color of the light emitted through the lens, but I am talking about the color of the body of the flashlight.

Thanks Lurker,
That is exactly what I ment!

I just received my NewBeam minutes ago yey! Took less than a minute to install and it's awesome - I love it. It looks good and techy in my new MiniMag that was hardly used. And it's also really bright, white and centered. The beam color is much more appealing than my Arc (I know it's 3 LEDs compared to 1), but I still love my arc for its size.

So...woohoo, go LEDs

BTW NewBeam colors would be awesome, I'd buy a blue.
